First of all, let me say I have never owned a blackberry or a smartphone before (although I do like to play on my brother's nokia e71) so I cannot compare it to other blackberries and smartphones, but as a new user only.

so why I chose blackberry?
I had been contimplating buying one for a while but neither the bold nor storm appealled due to the size and the fact it looked too complicated to use. However as more and more of my friends got the blackberry (and the fact I have too many friends abroad) it seemed like a really quick and cheap way of keeping in touch with everyone.
Moreover the apps such as excel, word and access r really great for when you are working (in my case writing assignments) on the move. Its impossible to write a whole essay or create a full spreadsheet on the blackberry as its too small and would take forever but I can access documents I have saved in my inbox and use the apps to tweak it. I also love that my contract - as with most contracts on blackberry came with unlimited push email and internet.. As I travel between london and buckingham every week or there abouts its essential for checking out train timetables, facebook, listen to music (has a 1 g memory card which can be upgraded)!!
The apps I use most are the blackberry maps - really great for navigating especially when your lost or looking for something in particular i.e a restaurant. I also love the blackberry to blckaberry messenger service which allows you to chat (like msn/yahoo) with other blackberry users for free and anywhere in the world - it also allows conferencing and i was on it last night chatting to 2 friends - one in nigeria and one in canada!! Talk about the world getting smaller!
Being a blackberry its not that user friendly I have to admit, it took me a few weeks to really get the hang of it, but once you do you will wonder how you ever managed without one before!! All my facebook, gmail, hotmail and SMS messages come straight into my phone inbox and makes comunnicating on the move a doddle.
The apps are pretty useful but some you have to pay for and are easier used on the computer than on a tiny blackberry. While I was used to using text prediction on my old phone I have found leanring to use the Qerty keyboard pretty easy to adapt to and there are new functions on my keypad I learn about every day.
The downside for me has be three features - one the lack of tones for blackberry messenger - you have to look out for the little red light on the top right hand side of the phone and there have been times when I will not have read message until 5 hours after it was sent!
Another place where the blackberry falls flat is the camera. Although 3.2 mgpixel is not bad for a phone as I am used to sony ericcson cybershot phones this paled in comparision and took a moment for the picture to reset. Deleting pictures is hard as they reamin on the phone as read-only files.
thirdly, I am dissapointed in the fact it doesnt have 3G although the internet is generally fast, occasionally it does hang or take a long time to load a page - in this respect the edge just doesn;t compare to the 3G phones in the market. The only 3G phone on blackberry to date is their bold. The bold wasn't really an option as it was far too bulky for me and I didnt like the leather back.
All in all, it's definetly a good buy the contract are reasonable and once you get the hand of all the features you will absolutely love the phone... I honestly wonder how I lived before the age of smart phoneage lol It is not strictly for business as I have found it just as useful more for communicating with friends and families all over the world, and great for those who move around/travel alot. I like the fat it doesnt have a touch screen (like the iphone) and have not had any experience with it crashing ir overheating so far (friends with iphone have had these problems).
The battery life is very long and I usually charge every other day - although some features do drain the battery somewhat in particular the blackberry instant messenger and bluetooth.
It looks alot nicer than previous blackberries and can be used comfortabley as a hand held. It also has brilliant reception and speaker clarity.
Advantages: Range of features, battery life, ease of use, constantly evolving applications Disadvantages: None
...hands on a brand new Blackberry Curve 8900 everything became so incredibly easy. When I assessed the merits of the Blackberrys I narrowed my choice down to the Curve but had to choose between the keypad or touchscreen versions. I'm glad to say that I made the right choice with the keypad version as pictured here. This box of tricks does everything I need. The Blackberry Curve 8900 has its own very specific way of operating which is very different ... ...network. The Blackberry Curve 8900 also charges incredibly quickly. I get a full battery with a 45 minute charge which then keeps me going for at least three or four days (and I use this a lot!). Even when I've used the built in GPS navigation it seems to go on and on. I have a googlemail account for personal emails and it was a breeze for the Curve to synchronise with my online account. I didn't need to be a techno-wizard to accomplish this; I just ...

Advantages: Feature packed, easy to use, nice big screen, good for everything. Disadvantages: Makes you lazy, short battery life.
...the times, what with the Blackberry storm, the Iphone 3g and all the other new phones out at the moment, but i recently got my hands on a Blackberry Curve, for free via vodafone. I have a to say, i love it. I was worried it might be a bit poncy or "business man"-like, but it isn't really. I mean, it could be, but that's not the way i use it. I use it for the simple things in life, listening to music, making phone calls, sending texts, taking pictures, ... ...it broke :().
The blackberry is a blessing and a curse in disguise as a sexy little black thing. I chose it because im a massive geek and i love having a QWERTY keyboard. I'm too old and boring to be quick enough to use a normal phone keypad to type text messages. Perhaps grumpy would be a better term. Anyway, i knew i was going to be using my new phone to surf the web, so a keyboard is a better option. There aren't many phones with keyboards out ...

== Blackberry Curve 8900 == I'd never been the type to want a Blackberry before. In fact, whenever I thought of 'blackberry' I thought of a big, bulky phone that'd practically require a full workman force to carry it. Ok, so my thoughts were a _little_ exaggarated, but essiantally - wasn't it a businesspersons phone? So there I was, looking in the phone shop. Then suddenly, I saw it. A Blackberry Curve 8900. But when I saw it was mostly on contract, ... ...won. I was getting my Blackberry Curve!! === Advantages of the Curve === * The Internet Browser. It was far more 'advanced' than I thought it would be. It's clearer than what I'd thought, compared to what I was used to with my WAP phones. Infact, I would never use the internet on my phone due to the costs, though with my contract I got unlimited internet access. * The Camera. Don't let the fact it's only 3.2 megapixels fool you. I find the photo ...

== The New BlackBerry Curve 8900 ==
Blackberry have released several new email friendly handsets in the last few months, including the hugely popular BlackBerry Storm and BlackBerry Bold, RIM have now introduced the latest edition to the BlackBerry family, the Curve 8900.
== Design ==
I'm not usualy a huge fan of how BlackBerry handsets look, they just seem to lack a little imagination where design is concerned, but there is something quite appealing ... ...design characteristics of both the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and its predecessor the BlackBerry Curve 8310... It is neither too big nor too small, and unlike past BlackBerry models it is not particularly heavy, its professional looking design will appeal to all, from businessmen to students and teenagers.
If you are familiar with any of my past Ciao reviews, you may remember that I recently reviewed the new Nokia N95, and raved about its perfectly designed ...

Advantages: Amazing range of free features! Perfect for any busy person. Has memory for everything I need. Disadvantages: Easily scratched, I had to replace the headphones because they didn't fit snug.
I can honestly say that I feel as if this small black and silver phone is the perfect replacement for all my scruffy notepads, my miniature diary and my laptop all in one. Contrary to popular belief I don't think this is a device for a middle-aged-business-type-man. Instead I feel it is the perfect device for anybody who is quite 'technically-literate!' At first I was overwhelmed with all the different programs and features that were available, but ... ...and became familiar with it, the smaller my handbag was getting! I can answer my emails, check my facebook, reschedule any appointments I have to attend during the day and write a whole letter, all on the morning journey. The rollerball is a perfect way to move round a webpage without touchscreen, as I personally am not a fan of touch-screens this was the perfect alternative. The keypad, although small, is great for writing emails and conveniently ...
