Introduction
This fragrance has received a lot of hype during its launch in 2006. I remember popping into Debenhams to get free samples and I saw a small counter set up for Tom Ford BlackOrchid where hostesses were handing out samples. This sample then ended up in one of my drawers without testing. Until now that is. So is this perfume worth it?
The bottle
The packaging is classy, stylish and very 'designer' for me. The bottle is solid black with a ribbed pattern on all sides including the cap. There's a square golden plate attached to the body of the bottle stating the designer and name of the fragrance. The outer packaging is a ribbed-effect golden carton with the small black square label so the colours have been inverted.

Advantages: A gripping story, mostly excellent characterisation Disadvantages: Some flaws that can be largely forgiven
him to adopt the young waif. Then he finds himself further compromised when his son-in-law disappears and his daughter begs him to find out what is going on. At a time when even those close to Stalin lived in fear, to start making enquiries about the disappearance of someone who has been denounced could be a dangerous move.
Another similarity was the length of time over which the story takes place. "Ice Road" is almost "saga-like" in the length of time it covers but I thought that this was cleverly tackled and managed to link key episodes without endless padding and yet never seemed to be skimming over important parts of the story. Given the number of dramatic events woven into the plot, both real and fictional, GillianSlovo manages on the whole to avoid the telling of this story becoming a soap opera.
There are a number of aspects ...
BlackOrchid is a stand-alone graphic novel by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. It is based on the character created by Sheldon Mayer, Tony DeZuinga and Joe Orlando more than fifteen years ago.
In the beginning of the book, a terrible, almost unprecedented thing happens : the original BlackOrchid is killed. Not in a heroic battle with the enemy, not of some terrible mistake, but because she is discovered in the middle of an espionage operation. Her captor shocks the reader by saying
"I've seen...the movies... I've read the comics."
We realise that there is not going to be a miraculous escape this time ...and the sad end of the BlackOrchid confirms this. But the strangest thing about this death is that is occurs at the beginning of the story. The real plot is about BlackOrchid's sister, who blooms at the very moment of the heroines ...
