Hi, I'm Ian, I'm a Business Development Manager in the Health Sector, like most men my toys have become more expensive over the years. I love watching and playing sport.

I've had a number of phones for Business and Pleasure, this is the first one that does it all for me. Let me run you through yesterday.
I am awoken at 6ish by my blackberry, it's a good friend as it allows me to set the alarm for weekdays only - I used to hate it when my phone would wake me at 6am on the weekends.
I'm in the car getting a lift to the station from the lovely wife and on the way I can look at my day through the pushed calendar at work. I also get a blackberry instant message from a mate asking if I want to go for lunch. Nice!
On the train to work I look at the emails to see what I'm going to face when I get to the office. Not much to worry about so I fire up the brickbreaker, the 'pearl' in the middle has taken some getting used to with brickbreaker but I'm starting to get some decent scores. More seriously though the 'pearl' at first is a little awkward but before long you're navigating emails quicker than you do on a monitor in many cases!
The brickbreaker doesn't go so well and I've got frustrated so I have a quick look on the BBC PDA site at the sports news and another gloom mungering headline about the economy.
I'm now getting into the station and it's time to get on the tube. The 8100 fits neatly in my inside pocket without misshaping my suit and I sometimes have to check it's still there!
The least said about the tube the better.
On the other side I get a call from my boss and you know what it does the basics, I can hear him, turn him up and down and should I wish put him on speakerphone (although I don't). Thumbs up for simple phone functionality then! I work near some pretty cool urban art and I see this zebra with a snorkel on so I get a snap of that. The camera has a flash and is ok but it's just for snapping don't expect great results.
I get to work and plonk it on my desk, change the profile to meeting so I don't annoy people if it rings whilst I'm away from the desk and pretty much just use it to answer calls.
I then go out of the office for a meeting and need to review an agenda, I can get it on the blackberry as it's a word doc (pdfs I don't even bother trying because it's a nightmare with the blackberry).
On the way home I catch up on a few emails, the predictive texting is ok and takes some getting used to but I'm a speed demon on it now so I can ping off a couple of emails within five mins. Sort that out and then text the wife to let her know my train time.
I wouldn't say this is a smart phone, personal digital assistant or handheld computer, I'd say this Blackberry is sadly an addiction and something that my life would be pretty tricky without.
If you're thinking of getting one I pretty much gaurentee within two months you'll wonder how you managed without one.
In summary then, stuff you can do (without being too techy):
-Get your email pushed to the device (and of course email people) -Same goes for your calendar (and make appointments etc..) -Use the corporate address book to look up contacts -Text like a normal phone -Use a personal address book -Use GPS (although this isn't enabled on mine) -Store photo's, music and videos (mine has got a removable 1gb media card) -Look at email attachments (Excel and PDFs are a nightmare though) -Easily switch between customisable alert profiles (handy for meetings) -Waste time on sometimes frustrating games -Surf the net (I've got the BBC PDA and National Railmobile sites bookmarked and they are mega) -Lastly it's a simple phone, you can see who's calling you and do the basic stuff
