Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: some may want battery life to last longer
I have always wanted a Satellite Navigation (SatNav) device simply because I drive a lot and I am forever getting lost on my route.
I have been searching for a decent SatNav for a long time now, and up until recently the same one has been recommended to me time and time again from people I work with or know. This is the RoadAngel Navigator.
I brought this nifty gadget last week, and I am very please with it.

A brief Intro to the SatNav

The RoadAngel Satellite Navigator combines not only up to date speed camera warnings but also accident black spot warning as well.
RoadAngel Navigator is capable of alerting you to the complete range of fixed speed cameras including GATOS, Truvelo, Watchman and SPECS.
RoadAngel Navigator combines clear turn ...
Advantages: Speed camera warnings, accident blackspot warning, gets you there Disadvantages: annoying audible in average speed camera area
I bought a roadangel navigator 6000 a little over a year ago now, i got it second hand for £50 as it had no sd card that contain the maps included, i was quite happy as my friend had one of these with the sd card so i figured i could just make a copy of his card, insert it and away i go. This is what i did and hey presto off we go no problem at all.
To be honest i don't actually find the 6000 to bad although i notice a few people have come up with some horror stories regards the software not giving them the correct information.
Its a simple basic machine that does what it says it does. I have used it on several occassions when travelling round glasgow, edinburgh and birmingham and find it to be of satisfactory use. Ok so there are a few bad points to it but you almost come to expect this with everything in this day and age ...
Advantages: Good mapping, clear speed display, easily understood speed warnings, great customer service Disadvantages: It takes a minute or so to boot up - an age when you want to drive away NOW!
I had my RoadAngel Navigator stolen, and decided to replace it with the cheaper RoadAngel Navigator 7000. It's OK-ish but I found the verbal direction instructions less clear and often they were provided too late, compared to the original Navigator.
The mapping display is different between the original unit and the 7000 (they use different mapping systems). I couldn't see that the 7000 offered any key advantage or disadvantage in the map display itself, but it's big drawback is you don't get the simple direction display of the original Navigator unit - the one that automatically replaces the map and gives you simple, clear and easily-read directions such as "turn left on to A6 in 5 miles".
The screen size for all of the current Navigator range from RoadAngel is the same, although publicity material could lead you to believe ...
Gives voice alerts rather than bleeping, shuts up if you are driving below the speed limit, tells you the reported speed of the road, records and monitors your speed limit, you can record your own high risk zones
Database is not up to date, laser detect is questionable (*)
