**Introduction**
On this lovely summers day I am sat here with a nice cold coke and the window open listening to some relaxing music. I thought I might do a review of what I am listening to so here we are. Having reviewed Eric Benet's previous album I was really looking forward to sitting down and listening to this the follow up to A day in the life. Every so often an Artist produces an album that is their masterpiece. In my opinion Eric Benet's masterpiece Hurricane is one of those albums.
**Hurricane**
This album was released six years after his previous album and is one of the most personal R&B albums of the last decade. It deals with the breakup of Benet's marriage to Halle Berry and his battle with sex addiction, (yes you read that right.) The Storyline
As the Bob Dylan song goes "This is the story of the Hurricane", a song written about the boxer, Rubin "Hurricane" Carter (Denzel Washington), who was imprisoned for a crime he never committed.
The film is split into three sections. The first section shows how the Hurricane was created, from being sent to a State Home for Boys at the age of 11, where he escaped and joined the time the army and then back into prison to serve out his time. This whole time he spent dedicating himself to becoming a fighting warrior full of hate, especially for the white folk who imprisoned him. We also are introduced to the detective who, due to racial prejudice, has a life long grudge against Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. Advantages: Interesting, insightful Disadvantages: Good be a little more honest
As you can tell by looking at my previous reviews I enjoy auto biographies, also enjoying a game of snooker myself I was keen to read the auto-biography of Alex Higgins, the man more commonly known as 'Hurricane Higgins'.
Higgins is as famous (or maybe even more so) for his temper and wild behaviour as his snooker talent and winning the world championships. The book is pretty much standard in its format, starting off with his childhood growing up in Ireland with his Mum, Dad and three sister who played are still a very important part of his life.
It talks about the hardships that the family had faced and how that is how he first went to a snooker hall as kids were paid a few shillings to score for the better players.
The book continues through his teenage years how he starts to get play snooker, realise he has a talent good ...
