I’m not very adventurous when it comes to ordering things online. I tend to have my favourite places for certain items and stick with them even if somewhere else happens to have the same thing for slightly cheaper, it’s only when it’s a lot cheaper do I stray. Advantages: Wide range of academic texts Disadvantages: Slow delivery
I am a university student who decided to order two books to aid me with my final year project. The idea was to order the titles and get underway with my project at the start of my summer holidays. Unfortantly, the delivery date was put back 11 days due to 'the publishers not yet supplying the title' even though the books were advertised as in stock on the website and to my reckoning, the two titles are from two different publishers anyway.
So the ... ...I receive another two emails telling me yet again the publishers has not supplied the titles and that the delivery date is to be put back an extra 21 days. Although frustrated, I agreed that these things to happens so kept faith that my order will arrive.
Unfortantly, today is new revised ' expected to arrive' date, all in all I have waited 6 weeks and still no books have been delivered, I have logged into my account and the order is still being ...

Advantages: quick to process orders Disadvantages: poor service
After spending an afternoon on price comparison sites, Blackwells seemed to have the best value, delivery time and most importantly the book I needed was in stock. The site itself is very easy to use and the transactions are dealt with very quickly. However I waited 3 weeks to receive the wrong book. I was very disappointed as I needed it for a 4week TEFL course which was starting the following week. I returned the book and sent an email explaining ... ...the correct book asap. I didn't hear anything for 3 weeks. After another 3 email were sent £2 suddenly appeared in my bank account as a refund for the £16.25 book I purchased. Do they even sell £2 books? I have now been waiting 6 weeks from the date I originally ordered the book and my course is coming to an end (I managed to purchase it from WH Smith). I will not be using this company in the future. I finally received an apology stating that they ...

Advantages: straight forward website Disadvantages: couldn't find some books i wanted
i like this website and have ordered many books from it. i managed to find and buy all of my A-level textbooks on there and was impressed by the speed of delivery.
i didn't find them to be much cheaper than a high street book shop, but it saved me from lugging four heavy textbooks home. when I was buying my college books i also found some fiction books which i decided to order. if i had been in a real shop i probably would have walked straight past ...

Bookshops. Ooh I love them, I could, and frequently have, spent hours in the big Blackwells on Broad Street in Oxford. Especially the second hand bit on the top floor, bargainous.
Now I find that I can get BOB to deliver items to me free of charge from www.blackwells.co.uk
That's books and parcels in the post, which are surely some of the best things which can happen to a girl. So no more debating which of the piles of books I have to sacrifice ... ...lovely postlady brings them to my door.
Blackwells is certainly great for academic books. They tend to have branches in or around most major universities, so they carry text books and more specialist tomes. And a search of their online store with your reading list is quick and easy. Infact, you don't even need a reading list, cos they have some uni approved ones already listed on the left hand side of the site home page! How handy. Infact, the whole ...

Advantages: Great for academic books, free delivery, good service Disadvantages: Browing somewhat limited, not the cheapest
I’m not very adventurous when it comes to ordering things online. I tend to have my favourite places for certain items and stick with them even if somewhere else happens to have the same thing for slightly cheaper, it’s only when it’s a lot cheaper do I stray. For books I use amazon.co.uk, not very original I know, but it was the first place I used and I’ve always had great service from them. They let me down recently though so I strayed to a competitor. ... ...like that from amazon, but simply the book I wanted had a month long delivery date - not good when you need it for a taught course which has already started. So I strayed and using the price comparison feature at kelkoo.com I strayed all the way over to blackwells.co.uk which not only had the book in stock but also had the cheapest prices of all around...not bad considering the book (“Mobile Robotics: A Practical Introduction”) is hardly a title ...
