Advantages: Amusing, Great Comedy Disadvantages: Smith Fans expecting another stoner romp will be peeved
and slackerdom be ready for a story about family? I doubt it but then they're not the intended audience.
It's the early nineties and Ollie Trinke (Ben Affleck) is a workaholic record executive, a hugely successful one at that. He meets Gertrude (Jennifer Lopez) and finds the love of his life, dating eventually leads to marriage and babies. But during birth Gertrude dies and Ollie is left with a baby daughter and no clue about how to cope. He turns to his father (George Carlin) in NewJersey for help and is soon leaving his daughter behind while he continues his work in the city. But one day he is forced to take his baby daughter with him to a music shindig, he says one wrong thing and his music career is finished. Ollie is left back in NewJersey with nothing but his family and a regular existence.
Years pass and with his daughter now at school ...
Advantages: A classic rock album Disadvantages: NONE
never back down; the acoustic and electric instrumentation gives the song an eloquent feel.
NewJersey ends with Bon Jovi doing what they do best. "I'll be There for You" a tugging of the heartstrings ballad that gave the band another number one hit. "99 in the Shade" feels like a boogie woogie song injected with a punch of distorted guitar and massive rythm section. The final track "Love for Sale" finishes the album on a comedic note, Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi are clearly drunk, but the blues fused acoustic guitar and harmonica coupled with this apparent intoxication just heighten the sweaty bar room feel of the song.
Much of NewJersey is like this, the songs are more mature than previous Bon Jovi albums but are not delivered in a sombre way but in a positive way.

Advantages: great album from a great band Disadvantages: couple of poor songs
This is the third Bon Jovi album that I have bought, following my purchases of 'Crossroad' and 'Keep The Faith' and I honestly believe this to be the best. Not to say that the others are not good, in fact they are great, but I believe this to be quite incredible.
I've really lost count of the number of people that i've seen completely discard Bon Jovi because they are classed as 'hair metal' which instantly seems to put off alot of people. For me, music isn't about the image, it is believe it or not, about the MUSIC.
The reason that I would pick this over 'Crossroad' is simply because there are a couple of glaring omissions from the greatest hits, both of which are found on 'NewJersey'.
Those omissions are 'Born To Be My Baby', which is my all-time favourite Bon Jovi song, and 'Blood on Blood' which I believe to be another great ...
