Actually not that much. It's really reasonably priced at £7.99 for 250ml. Some of you may be having seizures at the thought ... ...walk into any salon and look at a bottle of 'professional' shampoo. You won't get much change out of a tenner I assure you. And I know this sounds pretty naff, but you *do* feel better when your hair looks good so spending a bit extra really is worth it.
Actually I find that cheaper products are a false economy anyway as you chuck them away if they don't do anything for you and try something else. <Hands up everyone with a bathroom ... more
Soy cream! In a shampoo! Yes really! Once again I am on about my curly hair and my quest for the ultimate products.
However, shock horror, I am reviewing a shampoo! For those of you who have followed my product trail, you'll know that sometime last year I discovered a book which pretty much scared me off shampoo for (what I thought was) life.
- Well, Why Not a Shampoo?
Shampoo and thirsty curly hair generally aren't a good mix. It usually ends in tears after all the laurel sulphate lathers up, strips your hair of the precious little oil it might just contain and leaves you looking like a candy floss. <Cue wails of despair.>
- So Why Did You Buy Shampoo Then?
Recently I have been pointed in the direction of another website for curly hair (naturalfrizz.co.uk) by my Ciao buddy and fellow curly girl, Venice.
<I thank you Venice, please step forward and take a bow............there we go ladies and gentlemen, the lovely Venice.......applause applause...!>
Via this site I have been reading even more information about curly hair. I am always going to be open to more information about my hair type!
I read up on shampoos that do not contain any of those lathering ingredients which will moisturise your hair whilst helping cleanse away any build up of styling lotions & potions & gels & whatnot.
You do not have to use them all the time in fact, you can choose to use it only once every 7 - 10 days and in between, just use a blob of conditioner to scrub your scalp with.

Also, of course, if you are following the 'don't use shampoo every time you wash' routine, you're going to find this bottle lasts ages.
- I'm Still Not Convinced This Is a Good Price. Why Should I Not Pop Into Boots or My Local Salon and Buy Off This Site?
A lot of shampoos from salons (and definitely not off the shelf in Boots!) are not great for curly hair. Trust me, I definitely know this after years of frustrating experience.
They might say they are good for dry or coarse hair (mine is both and a lot of curly hair is), however they still contain a lathering ingredient and frankly my hair is better off without it. My own hairdresser has confirmed this. Since I gave up shampooing with 'ordinary' salon products, I have returned to her about 4 times. Each time she tells me my hair is in much better condition. She has even started the same treatment for her little boy who has naturally curly hair.
- What Does This Product Smell Like/Feel Like?
It is a fantastically silky feeling product. You can feel the moisturiser immediately. The fragrance is of cherries. (Actually it makes me think of Bakewell tarts!) It's a beautiful fragrance and an absolute pleasure to use.
- Do I Use a Lot?
No. I have long very thirsty curls and I pump out about 4 pumps worth (probably a dessert spoon full) and massage through my hair. If you have shorter hair or less curly hair, you will not need to use this much.
Massage your scalp and let it wash through the remainder of your hair. It is safe to use every day as it is PH balanced. The website recommends this for people who like to swim also because it is so suitable for every day use.
- I Have Coloured Hair!
So do I! It is safe, no problems here!
- And Afterwards?
Well afterwards your hair smells lush and feels very soft & silky! But I still use a rinse out conditioner and every thirsty curly girl probably should do as we need moisture moisture and more moisture and tangles do not take long to reappear even with the silkiest of shampoos. Boo!
If you have much looser curls in great condition (more like waves) then this shampoo you may find this is rich enough to use on its own! But that's for you to try and decide of course.
I definitely recommend this shampoo for curly girls! If you are sick of spending a fortune on salon products but still getting 'le frizz', perhaps it's time for a fresh look at your product ingredients. This is most certainly worth a try.
