Fantastic Hand Blender/chopper
Review of Braun MR 5550 MCA-V Multiquick Fresh Syst by lucy7456

Advantages: Large containers for blitzing, powerful, variable speeds, pulsing
Disadvantages: Quite expensive - around £60

This Braun blender/chopper is fantastic. I have now thrown away my bulky full size processor. It comes with a 1 litre+ jug so I no longer need to process baby food a bit at a time. The jug also has an attachment to crush ice cubes - great for cocktails. There is also a smaller container which is tall & slim to prevent splashback. The small chopper bowl is great for herbs/garlic. I have now stopped using my garlic press as the chopper is easier to ...
...The metal end of the handblender is stronger then the plastic versions and its design prevents splashing. All in all this collection of Braun goodies provided me with a flexible tool that is easy to store and easy to use. I use it every day and thoroughly recommend it. ... Read review

It comes with a filling cup attached to the top of the lid. The blades are made of stainless steel. The body of the motor is silver in colour. It has 2 modes of speed. Sturdy at the base but the Jug is weak
Review of Kenwood SB 307 Smoothie PRO by Jammie87

Advantages: Looks, Motor, Spout
Disadvantages: Glass Jug, Price

Bought this for around £50 and was initially impressed with its features but ultimately i was unimpressed with it's durability. The motor is very strong and can crush ice/oats and fruit/veg easily but i found that the glass jug, while very strong and heavy, was still prone to cracking when it contained a lot of liquid. After about 6 months of use the glass jug began to crack around the handle, meaning you couldn't fill up the jug all the way when ... Read review

Kenwood could to better.
Review of Kenwood SB256 by HBForth

Advantages: Quite powerful for the price, affordable, good number of setting, pouring tap
Disadvantages: not very durable, not the easiest thing to clean thoroughly.

We bought this smoothie maker to help my husband become healthier and for me to enjoy fruit in a different way. Overall, it's not a bad product and it's generally quite powerful. I think I bought it for about £37 from Currys but I have since bought a different one by a different manufacturer which was only £10 dearer but the jug was made of glass not plastic and actually, the difference this makes is quite significant. Firstly, the glass is easier ...
...get a bit of friction which wears out quite quickly. It's got a good capacity but the hand mixer doesn't reach as far down to the bottom of the jug as I'd like. We used it twice a day and within about a month it was beginning to feel worn. The other problem is that if you use it, you must clean it thoroughly, particularly the pouring tap. It comes unscrewed but this isn't enough to really clean it inside. The same problem applies to the rest of ... Read review

Simple, but effective.
Review of Durabrand XB982 HAND Blender by miss-nomer

Advantages: Cheap, blends well, simple to use.
Disadvantages: Not cordless, so unless you have a socket near the stove it can be awkward.

I'd been wanting a hand-blender for quite some time, to make soups more easily, and make smoothies and puddings with less mess to clean up! When I noticed this one in Asda, for around £5, I thought "what the hey" and promptly purchased it. It's quite a simple thing: 200w motor and 2 speeds (fast, and faster). It has a white cord, which is around 37" long. The bottom (the bit with the neck and the blade) twists off simply, so you can clean it thoroughly ...
...some pale green detailing -- quite nice to look at. It's somewhat heavy, but I don't really have anything to compare it to, so that may be normal for stick type blenders, and it's not so bad you need to be a muscle woman to use it! Basically, you plug it in at the wall, flick the switch at the socket, stick the bladed end into whatever you want to blend, then push and hold one of the two speed buttons (which are arranged in a sort of green coloured ...
