Kitchen Aid .... possibly the best blender ever??

Advantages: Stlyish, multifunctional, easy to use and clean, built to last
Disadvantages: top end price

I have owned my kitchen aid for 6 months now and I can't imagine how I lived in this world without one. This is the only blender I have ever used that is built to withstand the tests of time. It is robust, sturdy but ever so stylish. There are 10 functions in all, including one which crushes ice - a feature many of us dream off but will in all probability never use. It is incredibly easy to clean - which most blenders, really, are not. It is also ...

Beautiful blender

Advantages: Powerful, with adjustable speed and handy pulse function
Disadvantages: Cannot do small quantities

I have had my Kitchen Aid blender for over two years now and use it several times a week. It is great for soups and smoothies and powerful enough to cope with most things - green smoothies, raw carrot, ice cubes... The variety of settings mean that I can do things such as pasta sauces which I do not necessarily want to be completely lump-free (the pulse function is useful here) or go for a totally smooth texture for milkshakes and smoothies. Also ...
...and rescuing pancake batter ;) Like most liquidisers this one cannot cope with dry foods, so for coffee beans, nuts, seeds etc you will need a separate grinder, unless you soak them first and/or add liquid. It also struggles with small quantities (less than about half a pint will simply get smeared around the edges of the goblet) so unless you are batch-cooking it's not a good bet for baby food. The base unit is easy to wipe clean and reassuringly ...

Easy way to 5 a day!

Advantages: Easy to use and clean. Looks nice
Disadvantages: Noisy

...5 a day and the Kenwood SB 277 has done the trick! The machine itself is quite large but its black and chrome exterior means that it looks good on the kitchen worktop. It is easy to put together. I managed to assemble it fairly quickly. It has a large glass jug (1.5l capacity), which is dishwasher safe. The black lid has a hole with a cap to add ingredients. It also has a pull down tap making it easy to serve the smoothie up into several glasses. ...
...makes it simple to get your smoothies to the right consistency. I personally like mine not to thick and lump free so I used the faster speed for a slightly longer time. It blends very well although it is quite loud. The smoothies themselves were absolutely delicious. It comes with a recipe book full of ideas to try. I have also found it useful for crushing ice and making cocktails! This has been a quick, easy and delicious way to 5 a day! ...

cheap and nasty

Advantages: incredibly cheap
Disadvantages: noisy, inefficient, leaves lumps

...you pay for. I believe Cookworks have brought out a more recent model which may be better but unless the head in particular has been re-designed I think it will have the same shortcomings. That's really all I have to say but have added this last bit to make up the required length of text! ...
