Wonderul for soup making
Review of Braun MR4050HC by
SASO1
Advantages: easy to use, makes lovely soup, easy to clean, reaonably priced
Disadvantages: none
Best kitchen gadget i own. My parents bought me one as a gift when I was ill and did not feeling like eating or cooking much. They have one and it was so amazing they said I would like it too. I was skeptical at first but this is best gadget I have.
I use it for making soups mainly. I found I can make soup out of almost any vegetables just chop add some stock and water, boil for 20 minutes or so and then blend and then you have yummy hot soup. Perfect ... ...a bit old. I make big vats of soup and then put it into smaller portions in freezer bags in the freezer and defrost for lunches etc.
I also use it to make hot chocolate and complan as its whisks out any powder lumps.
Its portable and really easy to wash the attachments, i just rinse them under the tap don't bother with washing up liquid or anything like that! I imagine though the blades could be quite sharp so you might have to be careful if you ...

Possibly the best smoothie machine ever!
Review of Kenwood SB206 by
ew499
Advantages: blends and crushes almost everything you could want to drink
Disadvantages: can be hard to clean
...works well with many other Kenwood products particularly kettles and toasters. The blade crushes or blends most things that you could put in it, particularly good with ice and ice cream. Can be a bit of a pain to clean particularly by the tap. The pulse setting is particularly good in making really smooth smoothies. Best recipe for a smoothie: add 3 rings of pineapple, two banannas, large glug of apple juice and small glug of pomegrante juice into ...

Cookworks glass blender
Review of Cookworks Silver Glass Blender by
amyjaney
Advantages: Great value for money
Disadvantages: Doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive ones
Very good value for money. I didn't want something cheap looking but also knew I wouldn't use a blender loads so didn't want to spend a fortune. I went for the glass jug and chrome effect and I think it looks just as good as a lot of the dearer ones. Easy to clean, you just rinse it out and then put the blender on with a little bit of clean water in the bottom to clean the blades. I like the fact that the jug is glass not plastic as feels more durable ... ...used it for soups and smoothies and have no complaints. The first time I used it the soup splattered out of the lid with the pressure so I don't fill it too high now and hold the top down with a tea towel. Has two speeds and a pulse button so you can vary accordance to preference. ...

Fantastic Hand Blender/chopper
Review of Braun MR5550MBCHC by
lucy7456
Advantages: Large containers for blitzing, powerful, variable speeds, pulsing
Disadvantages: Quite expensive - around £60
This Braun blender/chopper is fantastic. I have now thrown away my bulky full size processor. It comes with a 1 litre+ jug so I no longer need to process baby food a bit at a time. The jug also has an attachment to crush ice cubes - great for cocktails. There is also a smaller container which is tall & slim to prevent splashback.
The small chopper bowl is great for herbs/garlic. I have now stopped using my garlic press as the chopper is easier to ... ...The metal end of the handblender is stronger then the plastic versions and its design prevents splashing.
All in all this collection of Braun goodies provided me with a flexible tool that is easy to store and easy to use. I use it every day and thoroughly recommend it. ...

How to blend in and be smooth
Review of Bush HB005 by
steffiw
Advantages: Cheap price, glass jug
Disadvantages: Plastic parts in the locking mechanism can break off
...in Sainsburys and noticed the Bush HB005 blender at just £19.99 in the kitchen appliance section. With its squat, rounded chrome-effect base and tall clear glass jug it looked stylish in a retro sort of way and with its powerful 400 watt motor and a glass jug rather than a plastic one, I thought it was great value so it went into my trolley.
Although there were much cheaper blenders (including one for just £11.99), there were much more expensive ... ...the under £20 price range with a glass jug.
A glass jug is particularly useful because of its strength and durability. If you are using the blender for smoothies, or for any recipe involving crushing ice (and just to be clear, this model has blades that CAN crush ice), a glass jug is a much better option, as it won't scratch or crack like plastic might. And whilst a scratched plastic blender jug does look unsightly, it also makes cleaning more difficult ...
