This mascara apparently forms "tubes" around lashes instead of coating them, meaning that it won't smudge, run, clump or flake. I've been on the never-ending search for the perfect mascara for years. For some inexplicable reason I have been "blessed" with lashes that refuse to keep mascara on them. Yes, those lashes look great in the morning, but come lunchtime, when I look in the mirror I find panda eyes staring back at me! After trying possibly every mascara in the whole mascara market which promises to 'stay on all day' and 'never flake or smudge', I was excited, if a little cynical, when I caught wind of Blinc Inc's Kiss Me mascara.
This mascara apparently forms "tubes" around lashes instead of coating them, meaning that it won't smudge, run, clump or flake. I knew that if this didn't work, nothing would, so I set out to find this mythical mascara. After searching my regular beauty haunts (to no success), I consulted the Internet and eventually found it at a few sites. Then my eyes latched on the price - £18. £18 for a tube of black paint?? This is when things got very cynical. They can't really be expecting us to pay that amount for mascara, can they? Apparently so. But I evaluated it, and realised that I could either splash out on this wonder-product, or spend a small fortune on the rest of the mascaras out there in the slight hope that I may find one that works.
So, on my next trip to London, I made it my mission to find this mascara. I found it in Pout in Covent Garden whilst browsing its many make-up stalls. Sure enough, the price tag was £18, so I brought out my debit card in the hope of making it less painful.
And here it is now. The packaging does look a tad disappointing for such an expensive product. It is contained within a purplish blue box with white writing and silver crescent shapes on it. The tube itself is quite small and a dark blue. To be blunt, it wouldn't look out of place at a drugstore's make-up counter. The brush is thin and the formula is light, and when I applied it my lashes looked dark, almost shiny. Instead of waiting for a coat to dry before applying another one, you have to build up the mascara to your desired volume, length etc before letting it dry. Be sure not to blink too hard before it dries, or you'll end up with a nice smudge below your eyes.
It was now time to put it through its paces. I always put my mascara through some tests. The first one, is the work test. I work in a pub, and when its my turn to do the dishes, I have to use the huge industrial dishwasher which could be a substitute for a steamroom when opened. Before work, I applied Kiss Me, and set about for 4 hours of continuous steam. At the end of the night after collecting my paycheck, I took a quick look in the mirror. To my delight there were no smudges beneath my eyes. Possibly beginners' luck? It was time to put it through the ultimate test - school.
On a wet and windy morning in Wales, one can often see me reaching the bus stop only to find my mascara has run a marathon down my face. Now it was time for Kiss Me to prove itself. I headed straight to the toilets as soon as I arrived at school to check my face and, surpise surprise, no horrible black smudges. Lunchtime came around, and after spending three hours rubbing my eyes struggling to keep awake during lessons, I dashed to the toilets in order to do my usual mascara clean-up. To my surprise, I didn't see panda eyes staring back at me. Could this really last the day? Sure enough, I arrived home and the mascara was still in tact. I couldn't believe my eyes (not even my eyes could believe my eyes!).
Now it came to what I considered before to be the difficult part. If its so indestructible, how do you get the damn thing off? According to the instructions, I had to use warm water and apply 'gentle pressure' to ease the tubes off. Visions of hours spent trying to coax each little tube off my lashes flashed before my eyes. But it had to be done, so I rubbed some warm water on my lashes and attempted to remove the tubes. They come off with surprising ease, although it must be admitted that the shock of seeing little spider legs on your fingers is quite scary. And, the hours I envisioned turned out to be seconds.
So, non-smudging, easy to apply and easy to remove? The perfect mascara? Quite possibly.
Advantages: Lives up to the hype Disadvantages: Costs a fortune!
...cult make-up brands, such as Blinc and DuWop, in an interior that releases the inner girliness in even the least girly of people. Pout is one of the few places Kiss Me mascara is available in the UK (yes, it's pretty hard to get hold of!!)
After a good half hour wandering around the various stands in Pout, I came to the Blinc products and started drooling over the Kiss Me mascaras. Uninspired by the rather boring packaging (it looks incredibly cheap ... ...assistant if it was really as good as I'd heard, and she (obviously) said it was, and told me she was wearing it and would never ever go back to another mascara after using it. Convinced (no, it doesn't take much when it comes to mascara), I decided to splash the cash (these wonderful eyelashes come as a price - £16!!! Ouch!). So, after managing to stay in London until about 11pm (no, we weren't shopping *all* that time!), I took myself off home ...

Advantages: lasts and lasts, looks great Disadvantages: hard to get hold of and expensive
Now I could have gone for a Tramp-esque title along the lines of ‘Pump me up with your magic wand and I’ll last and last’ or some-such (sorry Sarah!, but in the end I felt this product needed a more down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is approach... like Ronseal for the lashes – in more ways than one – this product does exactly what it says on the tin.
I discovered mascara in the early 80s around the same time I discovered ... ...the days when eye make up meant thick, black, heavy-handed and then hey better put another coat on for luck... who cares if you stagger home at 4 in the morning looking like a panda who’s been the victim of gbh – that was a LONG time ago..!
ANYWAY... mascara remains a fixture in my life, but the panda look is something I have definitely tried to grow out of. And I have tried the lot in my quest for the perfect product. I firmly believe ...

Advantages: creates length an strength Disadvantages: No major issues
Kiss Me Mascara is well presented in a metallic tube and is a product of Kiss Me cosmetics.
It comes in six shades, black, dark brown, medium brown, dark blue, dark purple and dark green.
It has been clinically tested and is fine for contact lens wearers to use.
A very different idea altogether and I for one wanted to try it !
The instructions tell me that once I have applied the mascara it will form `tubes` over my lashes making them look long and ... ...the Dark Brown shade to match my eye colour.
Kiss Me assured me that once the mascara had dried it would be smudge free, waterproof and clump free, nor would it flake.
Well if it passed all of those tests it would be a miracle !
So the mascara dried and it looked fine,my lashes looked pretty long and strong too.
The day went by and my mascara passed all of the tests, nothing had moved since I applied it this morning !
So now I needed to remove ...

Advantages: Doesn't smudge, water-resistant Disadvantages: Expensive, can uncurl lashes before it dries
...and when I came across Blinc and read the rave reviews I was impressed.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
They have changed the packaging so the mascara comes in a rather chic deep red cigar-like tube which has the instructions printed on it, in case you lose the paper copy enclosed. The mascara tube is a sleek silver plastic which has an expensive metallic feel.
The mascara wand is seems quite unique in that the bristles wind round the wand in a screw formation ... ...have been quite pleased with Blinc since I bought it a month ago. It does live up to the promise of not smudging and leaving you with panda eyes, however I have had a couple of incidents where I have been a bit teary and found bits of mascara came off. I definitely wouldn't want to wear this going swimming, as it is only water-resistant. I do like the fact the mascara makes my lashes feel nice and soft and more natural than other mascaras.
The biggest ...

Advantages: Tottaly waterproof, smudeproof, no clumping. Disadvantages: Pricey
I have been searching for the perfect mascara for a long time. Like a lot of people I had trouble with clumping, and no matter what kind of mascara I wore always ended up with half of it down my face after a couple of hours.
Until I found this wonderfull product, instead of simply painting or coating your lashes like a regular mascara it creates individual tubes around your eyelashes, which when dry will not run whether rubbed or through tears. ... ...it I was rubbing my eyes all day, and even tried to make myself cry I was amazed it wouldnt budge.
You simply apply the mascara like any normal product, if you want to apply two coats make sure you do it within 2 minutes of applying the first as it will clump, Although I find one coat is enough for me with this product. When you are ready to take the mascara off, simply use your hands to gently rub your eyes with lots of warm water. This is best ...

Advantages: Doesn't flake, run or smudge, stays perfect all day, lengthens lashes, holds curl Disadvantages: Strange removal, but you get used to it!
When it comes to mascaras, the consumer is utterly spoilt for choice - do you go for volumising, curling, waterproof, thickening, lengthening, or smudge proof? What you want from a mascara is a very individual thing and finding one that works for you in the way you want is often a lengthy process. I have gone through too many brands of mascara to count - Lancome, YSL, Rimmel, L'oreal, Maybelline - I've probably tried them all. Being blessed with dark thick hair (or cursed, depending on where the hair in question is!), I don't require my mascara to have extra special volumising powers, but simply to lengthen my lashes and not to smudge during the day. A smudge under the eye and a mascara is straight in the bin for me! You would imagine these criteria are not too difficult to meet, but Japanese brand Blinc's KissMemascara is one ...
