So Blossom Hill red, a soft and fruity red from California apparently (I'm not much of a wine fan tbh, so i wouln't be able to tell anyway), 12.5% and we got 2 for £5 (not bad price I don't think).
So we each poured ourselves a glass of the first bottle (which we shared last night) by which point I was rather drunk anyway having been going through Miller and Corona all day, and I was left thinking "This ... ...alright to me". So I'm sober now and giving it a second chance, and I must confess my instincts were right, it's really bad.
Lets review it "properly" though.
I've just poured myself the second glass of the night, and I'll confess it does smel alright, but not great. You can smell fruits I'll give it that, but unfortunately, they don't smell like any fruits I particularly like. All the bottle says alluring to ... more
So I had a friend around last night, an to cut a story short she got two bottles of this, then left one when she was rushing for her train. I thought "I've never done a wine review (though I have done beer/lager ones), why not try this?"
So Blossom Hill red, a soft and fruity red from California apparently (I'm not much of a wine fan tbh, so i wouln't be able to tell anyway), 12.5% and we got 2 for £5 (not bad price I don't think).
So we each poured ourselves a glass of the first bottle (which we shared last night) by which point I was rather drunk anyway having been going through Miller and Corona all day, and I was left thinking "This tastes crap". She was sternly defending it saying "Na'h, it's alright to me".
All the bottle says alluring to the fruits are "berry's".
So now we'll "taste test" it, the first thing is that the taste seems to sperate in two when it goes into your mouth, you do get a fruity taste. But you also get a really watery taste at the same time, almost as if theres something not quite right about it. This does though oddly give it an effect of being easier to drink, the texture feels that thin that it's easy enough to down before you realise it.
The third stage of the "test", colour. The wine is a really deep red (don't spill this on white as it won't be coming off with out a fight), a proper dark red. Almost black at times, kinda like coke with a slight red tint.
So what do I think? To be honest I'd rather have white any day over red, but this is poor even for a red wine. I;d advise people to stay away nothing about it seems to say "buy me" apart from the "Blossom hill" make and the price. The wine tastes as cheap as it is, isn't particularly strong (taste or ABV) and leaves a nasty taste in your mouth of cheapness.
It might be your cup of tea, but it's not mine, it's not even my glass of wine to speak.
Advantages: Tastes good, gets you drunk, isn't expensive Disadvantages: If you stop drinking you might get a hangover, so don't stop drinking!
...class.
Can I recommend Blossom Hill California Soft Fruity Red Wine? It tastes very nice and it gets you very drunk.
I am something of an expert on this wine, having gone through about a case of it in the last week.
It costs £3.99, which is very reasonable indeed. Usually red wines in this price bracket taste like donkey piss (and not even vintage donkey piss, let me tell you). It is widely available. I got mine from Sainsbury’s. Oh, and ... ...says Carol Thorup of the Blossom Hill Winery.
Usually I hate those people who slurp wine, slosh it around their gobs and spit it out and say things like “oh, I get a hint of compost, and a tiny tinge of battery acid and vanilla” and crap like that.
But, hey, I’m pretty wasted, so I’ll give it a go. Ok, it is a very deep blood red in colour, a bit like Ribena made up very strong. Let’s get the old nose in there. The ...

...the back label by a Blossom Hill winemaker is great too and doesn't reek of pretensious 'wine expert' babble. It reads:
"Blossom Hill Red is soft and mellow with red berry fruit aromas"
I snapped it up for a mere £3.49, along with a couple of other bottles that turned out to be so revolting I won't mention them!
Upon opening I was pleased to see a REAL CORK!! So many wines have those horrible plastic / rubber stoppers which, while I'm sure don't ... ...a wine.
The red berry aroma, that I had read and salivated about only half an hour before hand, hit me the moment I popped the cork - it was great to get a fruity aroma rather than one of spicy malt vinegar! I poured myself a large glass and prepared myself for a great taste experience - and I wasn't dissapointed. The wine has a rich red appearance, lighter than many other reds I have tried. The first taste was fabulous; luscious, juicy raspberry, ...

Advantages: very good value Disadvantages: All the usual one associated with drinking too much alcohol!
I, like many people, never used to like red wine. I found it too dry and it gave me terrible hangovers the following day. However, I like a drink and when I read in a paper that a glass of red wine a day is good for you (ok - any excuse!) I decided to start trying a few.
The Bottle
It was the label on the bottle that appealed to me and made me want to try it. It's a very simple design in red and gold and states the name (Blossom Hill - obviously) ... ...the fact that it says "soft and fruity" that made me think that maybe this one wouldn't taste like vinegar. On the back of the bottle is another label telling you a little about the taste of the wine and reassuring you off the quality of the grapes.
The Colour and Smell
The wine is a gorgeous, dark red colour which looks like blackcurrant juice. I'm not one for all this wine tasting guff that you hear on TV, but I'll have a go. I think it smells ...

...my health of course!
Blossom Hill California Soft Fruity Red Wine was on special offer down at our local Costcutter recently. It normally costs £3.99 per bottle but was selling for £10 for three bottles.
The wine comes in a 75cl straight green bottle and has a little flower embossed just below the neck and a simple, plain label giving the name of the wine and the fact that it is ‘soft and fruity’ and that the wine is 12.5% alcohol by volume.
This ... ...I needn’t have worried with Blossom Hill.
Carol Thorup of the Blossom Hill winery says that “This wine is soft and mellow with scented berry fruit aromas and a smooth easy finish,” and she’s not wrong.
The wine is deep red in colour and has a lovely fruity flavour and is indeed smooth. There is none of the bitterness sometimes associated with red wine.
The label advises serving it with pasta and pork dishes but I am afraid I am a heathen when ...

...honestly say that this the blossom hill red wine has to be my favourite at the moment. Ok its, nothing outstanding if you're a connoisseur, but even then its bearable, but as a nice mid price drink its superb. Usually its a pretty good price around £3.60 - £3.80 for a bottle. Its got a good flavour to it, quite light. You know how some reds leave that vinegary after taste when you swallowed? You can barely notice it in this. Be warned though it is ...

Blosson hill white zinfandel is a bottle of wine that is never out of stock in my house. There is always a bottle in the wine rack ready to pop open.
The bottle labelling has changed from the picture on caio, its a smaller label with a red border with the distinctive name BlossomHill, at the base of the bottle it has a gold label with White zinfandel 2003. the description they give you is :
this luscious medium rose wine has aromas of strawberries, raspberriesand watermelon and a crisp fruity finish, and they are spot on. This is a wine that needs to be drank slowly, every sip is full of taste, and the smell is really fruity. This wine is enjoyable by itself or with a meal.
This is made and bottled in california by blosson hill winery. And best drunk chilled.
for a 75cl bottle which is 9.5% vol, costing around £3.50 - £4 ...
Advantages: Lovely taste, easy to drink and fairly cheap. Disadvantages: I could easily drink 4 bottles at a time!
I love BlossomHill, I love the Chardonnay, the California Winery but I simply adore the Sauvignon Blanc. There is just something about it. I actually look forward to having a cold glass of this wine with my dinner and in my opinion it goes with most dishes but especially pasta dishes or other fairly light dishes such as chicken or fish.
BlossomHill has a wide variety of different wines including red wine, white wine and rosé as well as sparkling wines. Just some of the wines available from BlossomHill are
Chardonnay Colombard, Viognier Chardonnay, Cabernet Shiraz, Shiraz Grenache, Sauvignon Blanc, White Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Red Zinfandel Sparkling and many more.
BlossomHill vineyard can be found on the Californian coast to the east of Monterey
Sauvignon generally refers to fairly dry wine which for me can ...
Advantages: Tasty, not too over powering or vinegar like! Disadvantages: its so nice you can drink the whole bottle without realising
I just popped to my local conviance shop and they had a special offer on Blossomhill white zinfandel so i thought id try it.
I love my wines, but i find that some reds are too rich and some whites are too vinegar like, which is why i always lean toward a rose.
Blossomhill white zinfandel is a sweet, crisp, fruity wine. Its not over powering and its easy to enjoy. When you first take a mouthful its sweet, then after you swallow it has a slight 'kick'
There is a strong hint of strawberries and other fruits, and the crispyness that you associate with whites.
Its not overly expensive, but it tastes more than it cost! At my local supermarket (no names - no law suits!) it costs £4.50, which is very reasonable when you consider the flavour.
Some of my local pubs serve it, but i think this is a relatively new wine, as it can be ...
A delightful, easy drinking, medium bodied red wine from Mendocino County. Consistent in quality. You may find some bargain prices if you know where to look.
