Reliable and well priced 2.0 Blu-Ray Player. Advantages: 2.0 compatible, good looking, easy to use remote, good connectivity for price, excellent price. Disadvantages: No optical sound output, no HDMI or ethernet cables included, need memory stick for 2.0 ...is the cheapest of the Philips range of Blu-Ray players, but it is also BDP 2.0, so you access the latest special features via the internet (as well as update the firmware) through an ethernet cable (remember to buy one). Be aware that you do need to put at least a 1GB memory stick in the back to access these features, as unlike more expensive models it does not have any memory built in. However, if you are like me and are more concerned with the ... ...and are older models, whereas Philips released theirs in May 2009. Whichever Blu-Ray player you do decide to buy, remember to opt for 1.1 or 2.0 and is able to receive firmware updates to ensure it will continue to play blu-ray discs in the coming years. Excellent quality all round Advantages: Great video and audio Disadvantages: The loading time ...all you must realize that sony is the king of the ring when it come to blu-ray player with the ps3 really breaking the blu-ray into mass market. I am pleased to say the there new model lives up to expectation and renews the boundries of video quality. The remote has good functionalities and is easy to use while set up is relatively simple. The video and audio quality is superb and just as goo as any other player on the market. Panasonic DMP-BD 60 Blu Ray player - a real quality product Advantages: nice clear playback and sound, slim and compact unit Disadvantages: No HDMI cable in box, disc loading take a few seconds Bought this Blu Ray player to hook up to a 2nd TV, as we already have a PS3, but wanted to replace a really old DVD player. Unit is a similar size to a normal DVD Player but is slimmer and should fit in most cabinets nice and snug. It's a breeze to set up, although you don't get a HDMI cable in the box, so make sure you have one before you set up. In my opinion you don't need to spend a lot of money on a cable, ours cost us £10.99. The first Blu ... ...say the picture is really impressive and the sound is nice and loud, even coming through the TV speakers. Upscaling of DVD's is lovely and clear. Remote control is nice and easy to use. There are lots of features on this unit, it plays regular CD's, as well as MP3 files from a CD, DVD or USB device.
