Sitting in a Reggae bar in Halkidiki, Northern Greece, I got into some pleasant conversation with the Greek barmaid. As 'One Love' played on the sound system she told me, over the top of some very loud bass, that Bob Marley was the King of Reggae. Bob Marley was and still is the best reggae singer of all time. In the beginning when Bob first started out making music, he was known as a rude boy (in other words the higher classed people in Jamaica didn't want to know) Here they had a rasta man who they saw as a bad influence on their children. Rastas were frowned upon. Radio stations were not well pleased to play Bobs music, but, how shall I say it, they didn't have an option and they did play it. "Music goes on forever" were Bob Marley's words on the sleeve of his album Legend. I agree with him especially Bob's music. I have always loved listening to Bob Marley & The Wailers for 20 odd years but is only in the past few years that I have realised that his music makes me feel good even when I am feeling low.I have two favourite albums and obviously favourite tracks on each. Although I never skip any of the tracks as they all have meaning and all make for enjoyable,easy listening. Bob marley is the best reggae artist ever! his excellent instumentation and slow beats gives his work a great quality which you can really enjoy and just kotch (relax) to. His catchy lyrics, melodys and bass lines makes his songs great to sing along to and really get in to. The great thing about his music is that its not just a certain group of people that can enjoy his music but everyone can not just rastafarians or ethnic groups but everyone can appreaciate his quailty irrespective of your back ground or colour.
