Disadvantages Disadvantages Just a little boring

Prawn crackers eh? Where would we be without them? Probably not very far from where we are now, but struggling to scoop up delicious lumps of Chinese take-away...unless you've got chopsticks/fork/spoon/hands that is. Never mind the delightful combination of scrunchy crunchiness and gloopy glutinness(?). Or you could just nibble them on their own. Actually, when you think about it, they're pretty horrid, fat-laden things. In fact, does anyone ever intentionally buy them? or, like me, gratefully accept anything that's free and in the process feel obliged to munch every last one of them. Perhaps ... more

Advantages Advantages No greasiness, lovely prawn flavour, filling, cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages The bag isn't big enough!

Now I love prawn crackers and when we have a Chinese we always order a couple of bags to dip in the sauce and munch on afterwards. But I've got a problem. Our local Chinese has recently been taken over by new people and while the meals are much better, the prawn crackers always taste like they've been sitting in fat for hours and taste very greasy and sometimes the middles are so saturated with oil that they feel almost soggy. Advantages Advantages Cheaper than buying from the Chinese

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Moreish

Prawn Crackers seem to be a mandatory accompaniment to any Chineses meal and I should imagine that most people order a bag of prawn crackers with any Chinese takeaway meal that they eat. I have, in the past, bought the prawn crackers that can be cooked from scratch, which work wonderfully, but recently I have come across a new addition to the crisps and snack family. The Prawn Crackers can be found on the shelves with the crisps and snacks, and are packaged in an attractive pink and purple shiny foil packet. For authenticity, you will find Chinese writing to the left hand side of the packet ... more

I like prawn crackers and they make a nice change to crisps. Bobby's Prawn Crackers are possibly the nicest I've ever tasted. They cost 35p for a 25g bag. Prawn crackers are very light and there were dozens in the packet, all of them a decent size. They weren't too crispy or too soft and they certainly weren't greasy. The packet is a typical crisp packet but has a shiny pink and purple design with pictures of prawn crackers on the front. On the back of the bag is a list of ingredients and nutritional information. Unfortunately, the crackers are roughly one third fat but there are no no ... more
