Thanks to the BigYummyAngel challenge that's floating about I find myself having to choose between an op on Member advice on Bingo (yeah, right! lol) and feminine hygiene - so me being me I opted for an op on sanitary towels in the hope of being able to inject some smut into it! ;oP Come on... how can I be as smutty as usual writing about bingo???
Now, I'm a bit of an anorak when it comes to sanitary towels - if Kotex makes a huge fuss 20 times a night on the tele about a new product then I'll try it. In the last 12 months I've used towels with and without wings, towels with a little cuff round them that's supposed to hold in leaks (but felt like an incontinence nappy) and even black towels for if you happen to start your period while wearing that all important little black dress. I didn't really see the point of the black ones if I'm honest cos a) when I'm on my period nothing on this earth will coax me into anything more glamorous than trakkie bottoms (loose ones girls!) and b) what is the point of having sanitary towels to match your dress when they're inside your knickers anyway?
Anyway, I digress. I'm not Briget Jones. I don't have any big knickers even for when it's the time of the month. I wear thongs. All the time. Well, if I'm truthful I wear thongs for about 2 weeks of every month (just before, during and for a couple of days after my period) and the other 2 weeks I'm quite fond of going commando. :o) Unless I happen to be wearing the little black dress I mentioned earlier and then I put a glam thong on.
So imagine my excitement in Boots the other day (well, month) when I spotted Bodyform (Wooooooooah Bodyform, Bodyform for yoooooou) String Towels in a pink plasticey box. Thank you Bodyform. They've designed a towel especially for us girls who like to wear thongs and even slipped a snug material 'jacket' on the towel which according to the box is to make the towel soft and ultra absorbant. Opening the box (and ripping the lid clean off in the process) the towels are wrapped individually in a vile pink wrapper - why not just bite the bullet and wrap them in red? ;oP I take one out and unwrap it and it's tiny and pointed at the back, so tiny that it doesn't look like it's going to work. Oh well, I'm not going out today so I'll try it and if I flood my trousers it's nothing a quick shower and a hot wash for the trousers can't fix.
Fitting these little bleeders (pardon the pun) to my thong took longer than I'd anticipated. The adhesive is pretty good but the problem arises when trying to stick the wings onto the outside of my thong. The advice given is to fit the towel as far back as possible and fold the wings across the outside of your thong. Easier said than done. The particular thong I was wearing that day has a thin little string going up my bum and there simply isn't enough space to fit the wings. Problem solved, when you put the towel in place stick the wings so they're overlapping slightly and they stick to each other much better than they stick to the fabric of your knickers.
You know I said the adhesive is pretty good? I was cooking dinner and as I bent down to take the roast out I felt a sharp sting so went into the bathroom to investigate. One of the wings had unstuck, folded inself inside my knickers and had stuck itself to my pubes! LOLOL I can laugh now but believe me I felt like I was having a Brazilian wax as I yanked it off... And this happens regularly with these towels I noticed because the wings are so small it doesn't take much effort on your behalf to make them unstick. Saying that, every time I've ued these towels the main area of the towel stays in place which is a good thing.
Absorbancy? Bodyform String are so small you'll find yourself worrying the first couple of times you use them in case they can't do the job they're designed for - which is holding as much blood as you need them to until you can get to the bathroom and change it. Dont worry. These are amazingly absorbant. The longest I've had the same towel on for is around 5 hours and I was starting to panic when I realised I was another hour away from being able to change it but when I did go and change there wasn't a leak in sight. Occasionally you'll get those horrible red stains along the side of the towel but that's only when one of the wings has come unstuck, but as I said the body of the towel stays in place perfectly and lets face it even if you're using regular sized towels you'll sometimes leak every so slightly. They feel soft against your skin too which is because of the 'soft touch' technology that Bodyform have applied to these towels.
I chose the 'normal' Invisible String towels as my periods aren't too heavy but if you suffer with heavy blood loss then I wouldn't go for these as the size of them means they just won't cope. Also if you're off to the gym don't wear one of these or you're likely to either wax yourself (as I did) or *horror* have the towel slide down and reveal itself to the gorgeous gym instructor from the leg of your shorts! ;oP They coped really well for me and I'll definitely be continuing to use them in the future.
I paid £1.69 for this pack of 12 Bodyform Invisible String and considering the average price of a pack of Kotex thin towels is £1.99 for 12, I think it was a bit of a bargain. To re-cap, these towels are just as absorbant as if you use regular size towels (and lets be honest, this is the whole point of sanitary towels), they fit nice and snug in your thong and feel really comfortable. So go on girls, don't dispense with the glam and sexy underwear just because the painters are in (sorry!) grab a box of these and you won't be disappointed. :o)
oOoOo A QUICK JOKE oOoOo
Son - Daaaaaaaaad, I'll never understand women. Dad - Don't worry son, you're not supposed to understand them. *whispers* Anyway, they're not human. Son - Not human? What do you mean? Dad - Think about this son - how can anything bleed continuously for a week every month and not die???

...local discount chemist) – Libresse Bodyform Invisible String Towels. The answer to my monthly cycle/butt flossing issue? Let me elucidate.
*****The Package*****
Bodyform String towels come in a blue and pink plasticised box, rather than the usual plastic bag. On the front it states that the pack contains 12 normal 3mm towels with wings. These are rated three “blobs” out of five, which I suppose means they are suitable for average ... ...this point I realise that Bodyform Invisible String is not for me. And I am breathing a big sigh of relief that I decided to test them at the light beginning of my cycle.
*****Absorbency*****
These towels are so small and so thin that I was very sceptical about their powers of absorbency. However, there have been quite remarkable advances in technology in the area of feminine hygiene, so I was prepared to give Bodyform the benefit of the doubt.

The Return of Polished poo!!!
How can any girl think that Body Form Strings are a godsend?
They have to be the most godawful invention of this century!!!
It's bad enough:
a) having periods
b) having to wear pads/tampax
c) having to endure spots
d) crying uncontrollably for no reason
e) having a stomach like a football
f) feeling the need to strangle everyone around you
g) being the worst person to work with in the world
h) having to wear ... ...revealing your V.P.L)
Ok, Ok, so us vain girls do have to wear g-strings - the V.P.L really is something that people like me would really rather didn't exist. . . BUT, why on earth would you try to maintain sexiness during a period when you feel anything BUT sexy?!!!
The Body Form String HAD to have been designed by a man!!! Like I said, it's bad enough having a cheese wire up yer bum, let alone a great wad of cotton wool type stuff!
I mean, hey ...

Advantages: A good idea! Disadvantages: Uncomfortable, don't stay put.
...about the same thickness as Bodyform Air panty liners. However, one thing they are not is comfortable!
A lot of people I know say they can't wear thongs because they don't like the thought of permanently having knickers "up your bum" - it's bad enough when normal knickers ride up, but having them up there all day is another matter! Well, I can just about cope with the knickers up there, but a panty liner is another matter! The only way I can put ... ...panty liners "chafed" in places I would rather not mention! I notice they have now brought out string towels, I can't even begin to imagine how uncomfortable these must be!
Also, they didn't stay put - the sticky strip on the thin part is not thick enough to prevent them from moving around, and after a few hours the narrow end had come unstuck and kind of folded itself up! Even the wider part wasn't really wide enough, especially once the other ...

Advantages: value for money, practical, Disadvantages: not enough adhesive, not for heavy periods
...say this is something that bodyform should rethink as the flaps are neither big enough or adhesive enough. I find that the best way to make tit stay snug in your thong is to put the two flaps under the string and attach the flaps together, alternatively for those 3-7 days (or whatever your cycle may be) wear thongs. You get a slighlty bigger piece of material to work with!
Despite the shape of your thongs, as long as you attach them along the shape ... ...that the absorbency is central to the towel, thereby reducing the risk of leakage. They are very absorbent considering how slim (3mm) the towel is. I have never had any 'accidents' with them. I would not, however, recommend them to women with heavy periods or those who normally use super towels.
What I most like about these towels are the fact that even when I am feeling at my worst during my period, I can still wear nice underwear and still feel ...

Advantages: fit thongs a treat Disadvantages: limited use
For those of us who dare to wear thongs (thanks sisqo for making them sexier lol)
I saw the sassy ad for these on tv pant liners for thongs... and I just had to go buy them, and they do work.
They are perfect for for daytime wear, when you are nearing or ending your period, or if you are going out straight from work, wearing one of these pant liners (as with any pantliners) makes u feel fresher, and cleaner.
They are very thin wafer like and fit ...
