I have tried powder, liquid, capsules, waccy baccy (!) , and tablets.

...in review at present is Bold 2in1 with the latest fragrance of Lavender and Camomile.
I first saw this on a freebie website so I applied for a free sample which never arrived...buyer beware!
Eventually given that I love fresh Lavender , curiosity got the better of me and I purchased a pack.

Tesco had two pack sizes. The larger of the two was priced at £4.64. It weighed 1.872kg and ... ...used and loved the other Bold fragrances, but as fresh lavender is a particular favourite of mine, I thought I would be onto a winner.
Prior to starting this review, I started a 40* wash, put the heating on, and then draped the freshly washed french maid outfit and nurses uniform over the radiators. Cant hang them outside as the neighbour will pinch them and they are much too small for him.
I wanted to experience the full fusion of ... more
Being a fickle as opposed to a faithful type of woman I like a bit of variety. I will give most things a try . I might even come back for more. I dont like things being taken for granted , and I think a change is as good as a rest! This is my attitude to my use of consumer products!! Now what did you think I meant??
I am not generally persuaded by advertising . I like to try a few variations till I find a favoured one but as soon as a product starts to establish itself in my cupboards, I'm away looking for a different model!
I have a family of five, four of whom are dirty devils. The fifth, myself, remains pristine, ha ha! There is my husband who likes to adorn himself in make-up -the stage variety I may add. Next are my two daughters who arent two bad in the dirt department but wear a vast array of outfits which are all too often dumped in the laundry basket , this being a far easier option than hanging in the wardrobe. Finally we have my son whom I think must eat off his shirt as opposed to a plate. (He is in training to be a man!)
With all this in mind, you will appreciate that the affair between myself and my current washing machine (must do a review on that later...) is both active and turbulent. I wash every day or more to the point, I use the washing machine for a laundry wash, every day. The choice of washing detergent is therefore an important one. At times I have favoured Surf, Ariel and Daz ( no plastic daffodils , please) but the one on the job at the moment is Bold. I have tried powder, liquid, capsules, waccy baccy (!) , and tablets.

۞Price
Tesco had two pack sizes. The larger of the two was priced at £4.64. It weighed 1.872kg and the price calculates at £2.48 per kg. The pack contained 48 tablets sufficient for 24 washes ,obviously based on two tablets per wash. Just in case you cannot count to two,the tablets are foil wrapped in pairs!
The smaller pack on the same principle ,contains 24 tablets for 12 washes. This is priced at £2.38 , weighs in at 936g and cost wise calculates at £2.55 per kg. It is therefore only marginally more economical to purchase the larger pack.
۞Fragrance
I like fresh clean smells. We, and indeed our homes are all supposed to have our own unique odours. Luckily this isnt restricted to the bad bathroom or stale food smells (have you been into those houses- know what I mean?). I had a friend whose home always smelled of leather, and come to think of it he was quite handy with a whip.... Now my children's friends have said that we and our home smell of washing powder . Actually, I can live with that. I have quite regularly used and loved the other Bold fragrances, but as fresh lavender is a particular favourite of mine, I thought I would be onto a winner. Prior to starting this review, I started a 40* wash, put the heating on, and then draped the freshly washed french maid outfit and nurses uniform over the radiators. Cant hang them outside as the neighbour will pinch them and they are much too small for him. I wanted to experience the full fusion of the aroma. It does emit a lovely flowery smell, which is what both lavender and camomile are. However,I cant honestly say I can identify the lavender fragrance . Camomile is in itself only a mildly fragranced bloom, so I am not convinced that the aroma represents this fragrance either. It is still very pleasant, but not as fresh a smell as the alternative Bold options.
۞Performance
Generally you need to place two tablets in the wash dispenser for a normal soil wash.Do not place these tablets in the drum or in a dispenser bags. I have so far been very pleased with the wash performance. It is a 2in1 product thus combining a detergent and fabric softener. Some consumers question this performance and still feel it necessary to use an additional softener, but for me I have not found this to be necessary. However we do live in a soft water area. Neither have we suffered any adverse skin reactions despite the fact that the product contains enzymes, brighteners and oxygen based bleaching agents. Not eco friendly then I guess! It also indicates on the packaging that this product is not suitable for wools or silk. Wrecked the thermal vest and lacy thong ...
۞Packaging
Each Bold carton reflects the colour of its fragrance,so thisone of course is lavender in colour. With the other fragrances this can be somewhat confusing. Proctor and Gamble change its range of fragrances but not the colouring of the packaging. For example there was a blue pack which had a blend called' Aqua Fresh' but the blend of the latest blue pack is 'Ocean Clear'. The blend of the bright green box was 'Active Fresh' where the latest green pack is 'Woodland Rain'. This has led to confusion among consumers. If this is important to you, always check the fragrance named on the packaging.

۞Summary
I would recommend this product based on price, performance and reputation. However, as the fragrance has been celestially wafting under my nose whilst compiling this review, I personally now reserve judgement on whether this particular fragrance will be a favourite. I love the idea of fresh lavender scented laundry but as mentioned earlier, I dont identify a lavender aroma in this blend. I like a fresh as opposed to flowery aroma. Cant say the men would relish smelling of a purple flower and a white daisy. Eh men? My favourites were Aqua and Active Fresh but I now suspect these may have been replaced by the aforementioned Ocean Clear and Woodland Rain.
۞ To conclude on an amusing note..
Both lavender and camomile are promoted as having soothing and calming properties, thus aiding restful sleep. When my son Josh, was caught in full yawn in what he described as a 'boring science class' , he gave the response 'It isn't my fault sir, it's these damn washing tablets mi mother uses. My shirt stinks of lavender and it dont half make me feel tired!!!
His mother's son!!
*Thanks for reading and maybe someday soon I will receive my free sample.*
Advantages: Smells great and less creases for easy ironing! Disadvantages: none that I can think of.
...neatly packaged pack of two Bold 2in1 tablets.
I have been meaning to try these ever since I saw an advert for them on the TV. They claim to give you outstanding cleaning and built in ironing at no extra cost! and on the leaflet included in this box they also give you a website address www.bold2in1.com the leaflet starts off be saying that "Now there's a tablet that starts the ironing as soon as you start the wash" then continues by saying "Because ... ...to this Braun experts recommend Bold 2in1 as Braun are always looking for ways to make the ironing easier! (aren't we all though??). The best bit is the coupon attached to the letter which gives me £1 off these tablets or any other Bold 2in1 product, so that means the liquid or the big box powder, if I buy them before 31st December 2001. As I have a £1 voucher I will be buying them when my usual big box powder runs out, and if they are ever on special ...

...price!) to try out these Bold washing tablets. The moment of truth came yesterday when the cynic (ME!) proceeded to test them....
>>>Description<<<
Ok, so for those that don’t know, (where have you been?) these tablets are washing powder in the form of little ‘bricks’, and there are 48 of them in each box. The Bold tablets come in two versions; the ‘Aqua’ which is in the aqua-blue box, and the ’Active Fresh’ in the green box (I purchased the ‘Aqua’ ... ...little bricks (three for heavily soiled items), into the drawer of your washing machine, and leave the machine to do the work. That’s it. There is no need to add any fabric conditioner as these little bricks are 2-in-1 (so says the bumph). The bumph also says that the bricks contain ‘Freshguard’ which works against everyday odours and maintains that fresh, clean smell throughout the day.

...that everyone likes and trusts Bold washing tablets but I have a different tale to tell.
Well, what can I say? The answer to this I’m afraid isn’t much that’s nice. But the point of having a site like Ciao is we get the all-round picture, the good and the bad, so here goes… ..I purchased a box of Bold Aqua 2 in 1 tablets (28 tablets in all – 14 washes minimum) as they were on special and I had heard good things about ... ...a try, I now wish I hadn’t bothered! The advertisements state they dissolve (burst) on impact to water, well if this is the case why did I find congealed washing powder in the drawer and in the drum of the washing machine after the wash cycle has finished? I thought at first that maybe its because I used them on a cold wash so I tried them on a hot wash and surprise surprise it made no difference what-so-ever. I consulted the instructions on ...

...Yesturday I came home with Bold washing tablets.
They were 1.99 on offer at Safeways, so like I said before,
I,m a sucker for a special offer and in the trolley they went, sometimes this has been my downfall.
Today I was nicely surprised.
Being the busy bee that I am, whenever I,m not at work I like to get on with the chores, so that they are done and I have plenty of time to play on my computer.
Today it was washing day.
I went round the house ... ...watery pattern on, with 2in1 Bold Aqua written in Orange on the front.
There's a picture of the bottom of an iron on the side and some tablets next to where it says Bold.
This product is recommended by Braun who make irons,so I presume it helps you to iron easier by not creasing the clothes to much.
I personally hate ironing and will only do it in extreme cases, like parents evening, when I have to look nice or a business meeting.
Anyway back ...

Advantages: Dissolve very easily, Lovely fresh smell Disadvantages: Quite dear
...GET ONE FREE, for this Bold 2 in 1 Aqua Tablets, so I thought I’d give them a go and I bought them.
On using them, I found that they dissolved very easily, unlike all the others I had tried, and they dissolved very quickly, as a matter of fact, as soon as the water hits them.
After my wash, I was made to see they had washed my washing very thoroughly, and left a lovely fresh and pleasant smell on them, which lasted for quite a few days, actually ... ...as long as they are Bold 2 in 1 Aqua Tablets.
The price of these vary from shop to shop, but on average, they sell at between £3 and £4 for a box of 28 (which is pretty dear) but they are worth the money, but also look out for special buy one get one free offers at Asda. ...

-Price.
2 boxes (84 tablets per box, 42 washes per box, 84 washes from the whole pack) of these Ariel tablets cost me £11.99 at Makro (excluding 15% VAT), so even with the VAT added. This is very good value considering tablets are more expensive that powders, and a 90 wash box of Bold can cost £16+ at the likes of cheap stores such as B&M.
At Sainsbury?s a 24 wash (48 tablets) box of Ariel Tablets costs £6.78 so the Makro price compares favourably!
-Performance.
All you have to do is open the foil wrapper and a tab makes sure that they are opened in a straight line down the side of the wrapper, so they are easy to just tip into the drawer of the washing machine.
Ariel Tablets always seem to remove any stains/dirt I may acquire on a day to day basis, and even without fabric conditioner they seem to leave everything soft and non ...
I use Boldtablets Lavender and camomile to wash my clothes with, so I shouldnt really have to use a fabric softener, but Hey I love nice smelling clothes. As I unscrew the lid I can already smell Lavender, The liquid is quite thick and leaves a residue on the lid when you pour in to your washer drawer. Just a half cap of liquid in a wash, helps keep the clothes smelling fresher longer. The liquid is lilac as is the lid, the label shows a womans face snuggled under a duvet with lenor across the front in traditional blue and white.

The washer eventually came to the final spin and i took out the damp washing, as of yet i couldnt see any visable signs of what the product was declairig to do. The product didnt have any aroma, all i could smell was the fresh fragrance of my Boldwashingtablets. I hung the washing out to dry on the line.
Im my honest opinion just adding this to your ordinary wash powder does little effect for stains. And if i was to be toally honest i dont think it does what the advert says it does. I think the ink on that bib is highly concentrated with water. It wouldnt suprise me at all if it was just coloured water that they use.
But im not angry that i wasted my £1 on this product as it does have a multitude of other uses. My son, bless him has started to learn how to cook, hes only 13 but at that age where he wants to do things for himself. One ...
