No, this is not just a shop for the older ladies. Both my teenage daughter and my mother have bought things from there and been quite satisfied. I must admit that my daughter only goes in when she is accompanying me and does not shop there regularily but she has come across some nice items that she tends to wear for work.
They seem to cover many sizes ... ...not true.
Bon Marche sells a wide range of goods very reasonably priced. They vary between the fashionable and the classic. You can buy a classic lined suit that will never go out of date for between £20 and £30 or you can buy this summers shorts for about £6. Because fashions change so much the shops are always holding sales which makes everything so much cheaper.

When you get to a certain age (over 40 for example) you sometimes find it difficult to get clothes that not only fit nicely (middle age spread is not that easy to get rid of) but suit your age. If you are not careful you either end up in fashionable clothes that are far too young for you or else you finish up looking about 60. Bon Marche seems to have solved this problem.

They seem to cover many sizes as well. Unfortunately I'm a bit on the large size - not overmuch - but I do find myself struggling to stay in a size 16. Many shops seem to think if you are over a size 12 you are not bothered about being in fashion. This is not true.

I have bought most of my holiday clothes there this year including my summer shoes as they also do a nice line in footwear.
Last year I went to my niece's wedding in London and spent months trying to find the 'perfect outfit'. We don't want them to think we northerners are out of date. I finally ended up with a suit from another shop which cost me £80. About 4 days before the wedding I went in Bon Marche whilst passing and found another pink suit that I loved. It cost me £20 and was far more what I had been looking for. It was also one that while looking very smart for the wedding I would be able to wear again. I ended up taking the first suit back and wearing the pink one. At the wedding many of the guests complimented me on my outfit and wanted to know where I got it.
Bon Marche have also started a new system. You can apply for a store card. This is not a store card in the usual fashion. You can not buy anything with it but if you hand it in with whatever you are purchasing it is scanned and your name is entered on the list of special offers. There seems to be a different one each month. Sometimes you can get 10% of your purchases, sometimes you get a stamp that you save and when you have a certain number you get £5 off your shopping, or it could be somthing completely different. They are always worthwhile offers.
To summarise Bon Marche is not just an older persons shop. They do a nice line in reasonably priced clothing and footwear. They se11 dresses, skirts, blouses, tops, trousers, jumpers, shorts, t-shirts, nightwear. Many of the items are made to co-ordinate with each other so it is easy to find an outfit for that special occasion. One final thing to say about it is that everything I have bought from them is well made, easy to wash and lasts for years.
Advantages: They cater for the mature woman and they also stock the larger sizes. Disadvantages: None
Bon Marche have always been labelled as a clothing store that caters for the mature woman, I admit that I am mature but I will not admit to being dowdy or too far behind the times.
The Bon Marche store in our small town is quite a large store with a modern frontage and inside the clothing is all very well displayed.
If I am looking for something extra special, maybe to wear to a wedding or a party then a visit to the city is on the cards but for ... ...staff. I also have a Bon Marche loyalty card which offers no points or financial gain but when the store has special offers and sales then you are one of the first to know, you also receive vouchers that will entitle you to a discount if you spend over a certain amount.
Bon Marche stocks such a variety, skirts, slacks, jeans, cropped trousers, underwear, nightwear, slippers, handbags, shoes, boots, jewellery and hair accessories.
I find that their ...

...admit it, I shop at Bon Marché.
There I've got it off my chest. I feel a lot better for that. Not only do I shop there but lots of other people shop there too. My mum shops there and lots of older ladies do. Does this mean it is an old ladies shop? NO!!!!!
Let me tell you why I shop there. I am vertically challenged. I am not saying I am small. I am 5'4”, which used to be the average height for a woman. My figure is a full hour glass shape. ... ...sleeves need shortening. At Bon Marché they seem to cater for people like me. The reason there are so many older ladies there is they are smaller too and so the clothes fit them as well.
What about the style of clothing? If the shop is full of senior citizens then the clothes must be designed for them. No! The shop sells a wide variety of styles of clothing. Some are more appropriate for older people and some trendy enough for the trendiest among ...

...budget. How?
I use Bon Marche where ever I find one, but I usually shop in Hereford, (so much that they know me by name). The shops are always well kept, bright and clean. The changing rooms are of a large size with good heavy duty curtains so you aren't going to be sticking various parts of your anatomy out for the world to see, very important when you are my size. The clothes have always been of good quality, the basic t'shirts are made from a ... ...last months fashion but if you are only doing the shopping in them who's to know. I higly recommend Bon Marche for the curvier ladies from 14 years to 90 years. The salea and promotions are great, well worth saving up for. ...

Advantages: architecture, history, location Disadvantages: May be prices
Let?s continue to discover Paris by doing a bit of shopping at ?Le BonMarché?.
This store is one of my favourite in Paris even though I rarely shop in here as the prices are quite expansive but it?s still a great place to wander.
Archetype of the Parisian luxury shop ? Le BonMarché? is also the oldest and the most snobbish of them. Settled on the 24 rue de Sèvres the best way to reach it is to use the subway line 10 and 12 Station Sèvres-Babylone.
This Store could certainly be compared to the famous English store settled in Knightsbridge, Harrods. It?s similarly composed of different store departments separated on different floors: Sports, Men wear, women wear, children and toys, house, jewellery and perfume.
A second building is totally dedicated to food containing a huge food all and grocery but also some restaurants. This ...

M&S VOUCHERS
M&S vouchers can be bought as gifts and presumably come in many denominations. This jogs a childhood memory for me. My father deals with pharmaceutical reps every day of the week. It is quite a symbiotic relationship. The reps give some sales spiel to the doctors about their new wonder drug. The doctors in return receive gifts after prescribing the drugs to the naive patient. A large percentage of the artefacts at home are pharmaceutical freebies.
Anyway back to the story. One rep was very pleased with my father and wanted to make a financial gift as a thank you present. Ever wary of the taxman my father refused the bung but asked for M ...
