hello there, Booking.com is convenient, but beware of cancellation charges. In January 2012, we made a booking for 2nd week in Feb 2012. We cancelled our booking of HongKong hotel well in advance of the penalty date (1 week prior), but still got charged on the credit card!
Upon return from vacation, I contacted Booking.com, and simply got "sorry for inconvenience" email. I believe either cancellation was simply not processed by Booking.com webpage, or the cancellation was not forwarded to the hotel, or cancellation request from Booking.com to the hotel was ignored by the hotel. I am still awaiting reply from Booking.com on these possibilities. It has become time-consuming annoyance. I hope this is not a back-door way to make money off honest users.
