I joined BFC a few months ago simply because of their amazing offer on the Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit collection.
I had received a leaflet through the post advertising the entire Peter Rabbit book collection in a presentation box for just £9.99. How could I miss it? and as a bonus, if you replied within 7 days you got a free mystery book pack aswell!
As I have access to the internet I decided to have a look at their website which was written on the leaflet. (www.booksforchildren.com) It was really easy to place the order online, and, you still were offered the mystery book pack. Everything you order is on a ten day home trial so if you don't like what you have ordered you can send it back and not pay a penny. Also you only pay for the goods fourteen days after you have received them.
Just over a week after I had placed my order a delivery man knocked on the door with my order. as expected, I very pleased with what I had received. I received the Peter Rabbit pack (with all 23 volumes) two A4 cardboard books (the ones they can’t rip up!) A “learn your alphabet” book with full alphabet frieze, a pack of crayons and the bill, all for £9.99 plus P&P which came to a total of just £14.94!
You can buy a book from as little as £1.99 to around £35. I think that all of their books are good quality and value for money.
You can pay your bill at the post office, via cheque, on line or on the phone. It can’t be much easier!
You can order on the internet where there is more or less the whole catalogue to view, there are also some special offers for those who are online, you can view and pay your account and change your details and let them know another safe place for them to leave your order if you know you will be out.
I can’t really comment on the postal service because I haven’t used it although I believe it would be as good as the online service.
As with every book club I have heard of there is always the same catch of having to order around six more times in the first year of you becoming a member. Books For Children insist that you order six times. I haven’t yet ordered a second time so I still have my fingers crossed that the service will be good. One good advantage of book clubs is that you can do everything from the comfort of your own home!!!
Thanks for reading and I hope that I helped a bit!!!
We were with books for children for a while, and found that the cheapest books to go for were the multipacks - we have some lovely ones, but found that getting the mystery parcels were a bit hit an miss as to whether they were suitable for our children, but they made good presents to keep for partys. The service was just as good all the way through the membership. Claire

Nice op. I used to be a member of BFC but now mine are a bit older, we've cancelled. Sara X
