As a student, credit card use tends to become an integral part of financing. I use one to keep my funds going during that low point when the loan has run out and the new one hasn't yet replenished the debt. I used to use HSBC's own card which was good, but loyalty points one recieved - so-called "choice points" were few and far between and I calculated that I'd have to spend thousands before I noticed any real "rewards".
This Boots Advantage Card Powered by Egg is fantastic though - I use it to pay for things I'd have to buy anyway, and I get 1p free to spend at Boots for every pound I put on the card. OK, so I have to pay a separate bill than if I'd used a debit card - but when you can set up a direct debit, what difference does it make?!
The web site can sometimes be unreliable, but this is compensated by the fact that the customner service by telephone is execellent.
