having suffered from Dandruff since school i have only recently found a passable solution to the problem. The boots anti dandruff range is only part of my particular semi cure. I have tried all the usual products head and shoulders, Nizoral (which did work for a period and is one of the best they say) polytar and polytar AF, etc etc, All of which stripped my scalp raw and caused more flaking problems. So i tried the boots own range. They are not very brightly packaged and as stated in another review you have to know where it is or look hard for it. It is averagly priced i think last time i paid 2.38 and you get 200ml. Its a light blueish colour and not very thick a solution (tastes and smells a bit like childrens bubbles bath....no i didnt eat it heheh) It still dried my scalp but nothing like the other dandruff shampoos, (why not use baby shampoo you maybe wondering? i did but that has the same effect of dry my scalp badly ) I also use the boots dry scalp dandruff conditioner which you place on slightly drying hair and leave for a few minutes. Makes your hair smooth ! and helps calm down the drying scalp.(you dont get to much in the small squeezy bottle for the money but it lasts a fair amount of time if your not over zealous). Its not a complete solution but the best i have found so far ! But used with selsun an over the counter medicated (contains selenium sulphite) its a thin yellowish solution which you put on for 3 minutes then again for another 3 minutes and use so many times a week for so many weeks reducing down and then only for control when needed. it worked a treat on my particular barnet and cleared it up completely ! though you do have to keep on top of it as it were, as im finding a lapse will bring it back.
So for my scalp i use Selsun and inbetween (bulk of the time) i use Boots dry scalp and the dry scalp conditioner, and works very well !
i can touch my hair in public again heheh as a side note try not to let the condition get you down to much just go see the doctor if your worried and see what they have to offer. Easier said than done i know !
Advantages: It sort of works a bit. Disadvantages: The smell is disgusting and it turned my blonde highlights ginger!
...(it’s still smelly, but hey you can’t have everything!). Check out my other reviews if you want to know what that is. As for this product, I’m afraid I won’t be recommending it to anyone. It just didn’t work for me.
OTHER PRODUCTS IN THE RANGE:
These days you can get Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic shampoo in and Anti-Dandruff version and a Damaged 7 Fragile Hair version too. I’m not sure if they work or smell any better. Also, at least at Boots, you can get 125ml bottle of Neutrogena T/Gel Anti-Dandruffshampoo in Sensitive, Normal to Dry and Greasy Hair options. These cost £4.29, though you are getting much less product.
Neutrogena do produce a whole load of other, and in my opinion, more effective products, most notably the Norwegian Formula range which includes hand creams, foot creams...
