After looking at various baby monitors, we finally decided on this one because we liked the idea of being able to see our baby on the screen. Unfortunately, though, it wasn't as good as we thought it would be.
This monitor cost £99 from Boots and, for that price, really should be the "business". It claims to have a colour monitor, but we didn't really rate that very much as it seemed to have trouble showing the true colours - sometimes it worked really well, other times the colour clarity was quite poor. Just about everything seemed to interfere with it. Of course, it stands to reason that anything which broadcasts over radio frequencies will have some interference, but this pretty much crackled and hissed the whole time.
The monitor was very easy to use - both the parent device and the camera/monitor device can be plugged in at the mains and also battery operated (it is not a rechargeable device). The camera itself was easy to position and it looked really smart.
It had sensitivity settings on the parent device and volume control and it seemed to be able to pick up on sensitivities very well. Another function which was particularly nice to have was night mode - you could switch the camera to night mode and see baby perfectly. Another function was that it came with the cable to be able to plug into the TV so that you could see baby on your TV, although we didn't use this function.
We have since taken this monitor back to Boots as we believe it may be faulty - I have heard good things about this monitor from others, but I've tried to be as honest as I can about my experience of it. I bought this monitor before my son was born he is now 2. It has been brilliant. My son sleeps from 7.30pm to 7.30am and I put that down to the monitor.
Because with this monitor you can see your baby it made me feel much more content knowing he was OK. It stopped me from going in his room and checking on him and ultimately disturbing him. It also meant as he got older and was sleeping through the night when he did wake up in the night I wouldn't ... ...see if he was ok and see whether he could settle himself back down 9 times out of 10 he did. I had the monitor next to the bed at night and could easily see him then even though he was in his own room.
