Boots Botanics - Skin Brightening Toner
Yes, its yet another botanics product review, what can I say, I cant seem to stay away from boots these days!
THE PRODUCT-
What we have here is a toner from the boots botanics range. The Botanics range, for those who don't know, is a range specially designed for Boots. Its claim to fame is its use of natural plant ingredients at levels that "really work", designed to be kind to your skin and work wonders. They have a huge range now, covering shampoos, face creams, cleansers and toners, hand creams, face serums, clay masks, etc etc! Today I am reviewing the "skin brightening toner". A toner is designed to be used after cleansing your face and neck. It is usually liquid in form and removes all last traces of cleanser and dirt from your face, prepping you skin for the application of moisturiser. This toner contains cell renewing fruit acids and "skin refining equisetum extract" No, I have no idea what this is ethier! Although I do know that fruit acids are good for the skin as they help to promote cell turnover, revealing fresher looking skin. The toner promises to sweep away every last trace of cleanser and brightens your complexion. It promises to refine your pores (make them smaller and hence make you skin appears smoother) and to minmise excess oil.
THE PACKAGING
The packaging fits inline with the rest of the botanics range, simple, understated but refined! It comes in a 250ml clear plastic bottle with a silveresque screw cap lid. The pale green botanics label is stuck onto the front with the back label containing an ingredients list, directions etc. I found that a 250ml bottle is a nice size of toner to use as it will last a fairly long time without having to buy more. One big critisim with this is that if you are not careful, when pouring out the toner, you can accidentally pour out too much because there is not small hole in the top to prevent excess toner coming out. On one unfortunate occasion as I was sweeping the cotton wool with toner over my face I knocked the bottle over my precious toner went everywhere
PRODUCT PERFORMANC
Directions stated - " Saturate cotton wool pad and sweep over cleansed and neck. Avoid delicate eye area.
I use this product every morning and evening after cleansing. You only need to gently tip the bottle onto the cotton wool so that you don't end up pouring the toner all over the place! The toner itself is of a water consistency, with a green tinge. I liked the smell, Its fairly hard to describe on the internet but it smells of fruits which is nice and smells fresh and clean. It leaves the skin tingling slightly but this is only very gentle and doesn't last too long or too uncomfortable. After application, the skin feels very soft. Since using this product I have noticed that my skin tone is definitely brighter in appearance and smoother, such as the product promises. It is a pleasant experience to use, which I feel is important for any beauty product. Compared to other toners in the botanics range, this is definitely my favourite. For Christmas I am getting some clinique toner, but until then I wil lcontinue to use this and probbaly will for a long time as for the price it is very affordable.
£250ml costs £3.99. I bought mine a month ago and I still have ¾ left, bearing in mind I also spilt loads as well!
Suitable for all skin types. My skin type is combination.
Boots are currently doing a 3 for 2 deal on the botanics range so try this out, don't forget to take your boots card.
It should be noted that this product contains aplha hydroxy acids withint the fruit acids, which can increase the skins sensitivity to the sun so it is recommended to wear a moisturiser spf 15
Advantages: Good value, good results! Disadvantages: Not a great fragrance, but bearable
...As an extra bonus, Boots often runs 3 for 3 or similar offers on this range and you can of course collect points to use later if you have a Boots Advantage Card (loyalty card scheme). Until trying this product, I had never been a fan of toner, thinking it was enough to cleanse and moisturise. I think I first ended up trying this product because of 1 3for2 type offer. However, I have been pleasantly surprised and have continued to purchase this, never ... ...product is to completely remove any traces of dirt, make up etc which may have been missed in the cleansing process, plus refining your skin (tightening the pores), which makes it smoother and encouraging cell renewal, which also keeps your skin looking fresh, bright and smooth. This product is applied by saturating a cotton wool pad with the toner and sweeping over your face and neck. Repeat as needed. I had always assumed my skin was clean after ...

...most of my cosmetics.
Boots Botanics skin brightening toner comes in a tall clear bottle plastic with a screw cap and an easy-to-red label. The packaging is appealing and this is what made me pick it up. You apply the liquid toner by wetting a cotton cosmetics pad with a small amount and wiping it over your skin. It is easy to apply. The bottle contains 250 ml and at £3.99 I found it quite expensive, but I had a points voucher and had heard good ... ...a try. I was disappointed with this particular product, but overall the brand is good.
I think as a one-off it was ok and did what it said it would, but it don't think it was value for money and wouldn't buy it again. I think the Botanics range has mhad better products than this one and it is not a fair representation. ...
