I recently purchased the top scoring product in the 21st Century Beauty Bible cleansing wipe category only to find that they were absolute cack (Nivea Visage refreshing cleansing wipes). Undeterred I hunted down Boots’ own cleansing wipes in their Cucumber range (something I’d never even noticed before!)

BOOTS CUCUMBER CLEANSING WIPES
As I said, I’d never spotted the Cucumber range in Boots until now; but it’s actually quite a nicely presented neat little range especially considering the low price. Naturally everything is pale-green based and looks very relaxing. The cleansing wipes in particular are in a glossy green rectangular plastic packet with a sticky label on the front (which also serves as the seal/lid). There is minimal text on the front which serves to make the packet look agreeably simple. Thankfully these wipes don’t make any ridiculously ambitious claims, they just state ‘removes makeup from the face, neck & eyes’ and that they are suitable for all skin types.
Although simple, Boots have not overlooked the issue of hygiene/tamper proof packaging: look closely at the sticker and you’ll see a join on the right hand side which breaks when opened. Mine was in tact so I knew no one had opened them or used any. They come apart easily when you peel back the sticker and it is then that the wonderfully refreshing cucumber scent surrounds you. I’m not a fan of cucumber when it comes to eating it but if you’re talking cucumber in beauty products, I love it!
The wipes pull out easily enough and it is only rarely that two come out at once – if you’re careful it doesn’t generally happen. They look just like a thinner version of a wet wipe as they’re just like a plain white cloth. Using the wipes is a pleasure – they are quite soft but not too soft and likewise moist but not too moist. I like the texture as I feel it probably gives a very light daily exfoliation; especially in the way I use them (in small circular motions). There is always evidence of dirt after I’ve used them and if I was previously wearing makeup then that it also on the cloth. They seem to remove all types of makeup: foundation, eyeshadow, blusher and mascara. However, if I’m wearing really heavy eye makeup I’ll use my normal eye makeup remover first to save spreading it over my face.
After using the wipes you can smell quite a strong smell of cucumber. I don’t find it at all intrusive but I’d imagine anyone who dislikes the scent of cucumber would hate these (in which case try Boots’ identical but unscented version). Make sure you throw these in the normal household bin afterwards as they are not intended for flushing down the toilet. The seal on the packet stays impressively sticky throughout the month of use and so keeps the wipes as moist as when the packet was first opened.
DO THEY WORK?
I have to say a resounding YES! Immediately after using the wipes my face feels SO refreshed – it feels as close to putting cool water on your face as you can get, without *actually* putting cool water on your face. These wipes contain Aloe Vera and Vitamin E (skin goodies) which do seem to make my face pleasantly soft – nothing luxuriously velvety but that’s not really what I’m bothered about in a cleansing wipe.
It is hard to fully comment on the effectiveness in removing makeup as I still use my normal cleanser before bed but I do feel that the wipes remove the vast majority of my makeup, especially when compared with the hideous Nivea wipes. My skin is in the best state it has been in for a long time: granted that is not entirely down to the wipes but I believe they have certainly contributed.
After using them I can see a very slight residue on my forehead (not as bad as any other brand I’ve tried) but as I can’t feel it there I couldn’t care less as I use these when I know I am staying in the house for the night. That is the only detrimental thing I can say about them, and from my experience you get this residue with any brand of cleansing wipe.
The nasty Nivea wipes brought back a few clogged pores I sometimes get on my cheeks but upon using these, not only did they disappear, they have stayed away!
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
Available from Boots at £1.96 per pack, containing 30 wipes (more than many other brands). If you used these as I do (one a day) they’ll last you a month which I think is more than reasonable for maintaining decent skin.
VERDICT
Call off the search, I’ve found my perfect cleansing wipes: cheap but effective.
Like I said, I never intend to replace proper cleansing with these wipes but they are just so convenient for using in the early evening as I find that fully cleansing my face three times a day becomes a bit excessive. They would be great for anyone who has a tendency to go to bed with makeup on, anyone who travels a lot, or just conveniently slipped into a handbag for hot summer’s days (yeah I know it’s December!)
Dermatologically tested, Lanolin free and not tested on animals. What more could you want?
Advantages: Cool, refreshing, cleansing, smells lovely, very cheap Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...the range of products from Boots was good. In the pale green, simple packaging, it looks good. It is quite eye-catching, but in an unusual sort of way. It looks very plain, yet sophisticated. There isn’t a jumble of works or brash colours all over it, like some types of packaging. The Cucumber Cleansing Wipes come in a pale green plastic packet, and the packet contains 30 wipes. There is a peal over section on the top of the packet, which is ... ...available from Boots, but all Boots stores that I have been in, do stock this range, so you’re pretty likely to get them if you’re looking to buy some.
Once you pull back the re-sealable lid, the strong, refreshing smell of cucumber hits you. It is very fresh and pleasant. I love the smell of cucumber. These products all come in an unscented version from Boots too, so if you don’t like the cucumber smell, you can still purchase ...

...the shops I went into Boots to see what they had on offer. Well, you should know by now that I’m not going to be paying full price unless I have to!
I was looking for the Boots Botanics ones as I have tried them before and liked them, but luckily for me I couldn’t find them. I say luckily because it meant that I tried something different and found them to be excellent!
Let me explain…….
I found a display of Boots Own Brand Cleansing Wipes in either ... ...why I was pleased that Boots didn’t have the wipes that I was originally looking for or I would never have tried these and I shall certainly stay loyal to these from now on. Even at the full price they would be a good buy and of course I can always keep my eye open and stock up when they’re on offer can’t I?
Of course the other benefit in buying Boots Own Brand is that by definition they must be purchased from Boots and as such you get Boots Advantage ...

...tight recently and whilst in Boots I spotted the Cucumber Cleansing Wipes. The cucumber range has been around in Boots for years. In fact it was the first range of skincare I ever used as a teenager. It looks a bit more modern nowadays, almost minimalistic really, so I had a look and was surprised to see that the cucumber range now includes cleansing wipes (as well as cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye gel, facial scrub, mask - a huge range, all between ... ...was greeted with the familiar Boots Cucumber scent. I personally love this smell - it's really clean and fresh, but I suppose it's down to personal taste.
The wipe was of a good size and I was pleasantly surprised at how strong and soft it was. It was also good to note that the wipe was really wet. Boots hadn't scrimped on cucumber product. I wiped the erm...wipe over my face and to my surpise it easily whipped off all my my makeup. Even my eyemakeup ...

I have used all of the wipes from one packet of wipes and still have my free packet left.
The wipes come easily out of the packet, and when I pulled out the first one, there was a distinct cucumber smell. We don't want all those nasty dirty things getting onto those clean wipes.
The wipes are quite big, although not as big as some of the wipes I have used; they could be slightly smaller and still do the same job. I am not quite frugal enough to cut them in half, so I did feel as though quite alot was wasted.

...Cucumber cleansing wipes from the Boots own range, promising to 'remove make-up from the face, neck and eyes'. It was Belle's lucky day as the face wipes were on three-for-two, convincing her to pay the £2.99 instead of hot-footing it to Savers in disgust. (The fact that Savers is at the other end of town was a big influence in this decision, I must admit).

Belle is lucky enough not to have sensitive skin either, so please do a little test or something before using them properly, if you do have sensitive skin, and just be careful. Ta for reading,

Advantages: Boots, good price, smells nice Disadvantages: I can't get on with the gel cleansers
I have always had problems finding a cleanser to suit my skin as I don't like cleansers that come in the form of creams or gels as they make my skin feel greasy and less clean rather than cleaner!
The type that I like are the astringent ones which are water based and so I usually use Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Cleansing and Toning Lotion as it fits the bill perfectly.
So do I stick to that or am I a contrary woman who wants to try other things just in case? Well ??????.
I was in Boots earlier this week and saw the BootsCucumber 2 in 1 Cleanser and Toner. I have read a few good reviews about this here on Dooyoo and I do already use the BootsCucumberCleansingWipes when I am away from home so I thought I would buy some for a change.
It only cost £1.49 so I thought it was worth taking a chance.
The bottle is very ...
Advantages: A primer/silky feel extender with the product. Disadvantages: Dries very quickly, cost, dries darker than expected, leaves dry skin looking worse.
the foundation had dried i found that it made my dry patches look alot worse and i also found i looked yellow. i also found it felt very drying almost tight on my face which i can not stand, i had to remove it as i could not have left the house as i would of looked really ill due to the yellow colour. I just used my usual bootscucumbercleansingwipes to remove the foundation and it came off pretty easy.
In my opinion i found this product disappointing, i thought that by having the primer/silky feel extender with the product this would have been fantastic and for someone who does not suffer from dry skin this could be, but i also thought that for £10.00 it was rather alot and you can not see how much product is left in the package so you could run out and be stranded! I also thought that you could mix any moisturisor/ primer to your usual ...

Having been despairing for months about my my skin breaking out im spots all the time I was desperate to find a cleanser that was good for my skin type ( annoying combination skin - oily and prone to breakouts but also prone to dryness)
I've tried BootsCucumberCleansingWipes, Simple CleansingWipes, Loreal lotion facial Cleanser Olay facial cleanser, Clearasil... despite several months persevering with each different cleanser my skin still didnt improve!
But then I read an article in a magazine about how using 'oil' as a cleanser as the new 'must-have' product.
The theory is:
by cleansing you skin with a regular lotion / wipe / cream... you remove the layer of oil on your skin,
the skin then reacts to this by producing more oil which then leads to the breakouts....
anyway, this Lancome product was listed as an example of one ...
