My hair is a combination of waves and curls, so trying to find product that enhances my curls and stops frizz can be difficult. In the past I have tried various mousses, sprays, and gels but none have been exceptionally successful. So, the other week when I was browsing the 'hair' isle in Boots I came across this product. The bright pink bottle caught my eye and as soon as I saw the price I was immediately drawn in. Costing just £1 I was happily willing to try this product.
The mousse is in the Boots Essential range, the range also sells items such as hairspray and you may be familiar with some of the other products they make. The mousse is sold at just £1 (4 points on your Boots Advantage Card) for 200ml, which is an extremely good price in comparison with other hair mousses. The product is in a bright pink tin can that says 'curly hair' down the side (the design has changed since the picture above was taken). The lid is a translucent white colour and easily pops off to reveal a sturdy nozzle of the same colour. On the back of the bottle there are ingredients, directions, and warnings. To dispense the mousse you shake the bottle well, point downwards onto your hand, and then push nozzle firmly to release a ball of mousse. My hair is of a medium-long length and I find that I need one/two golf ball sized amount, in order for it to work effectively. When I first bought the product I found it best to experiment with how much I needed for different effects, but the mousse does expand rather a lot, so don't underestimate how much you've got on your hand!! The mousse itself is of a very thick consistency, and is coloured white. The mousse has a smell that is a little bit fruity, but is still natural at the same time.
I have used the product on both wet and dry hair and I have come to the conclusion that it works better on dry hair, but this may be different on different types of hair. When applied on dry hair, the mousse leaves your hair looking a little wet, but it soon dries to leave you with a defined wave/curl. When applied on wet hair, you cannot see the effect until after your hair is dry, and even then it is not as effective as putting straight onto dry hair. The mousse leaves your hair looking natural, not sticky, 'crunchy' or greasy. I have also found that it stops my hair from looking frizzy either, which is a bonus! The mousse holds all day with the aid of a little bit of your preferred hairspray. Not only is the product simple to apply, but it also washes out easily. The only fault I can think of is that after application it can leave your hands sticky, so you may need to wash your hands afterwards.
Aside from that, I am very pleased with the overall effects of the mousse; it does what it says on the tin for a bargain price! Which is why I have rated this product 5/5.Visit www.boots.co.uk for more information on the product or to order online.
