The product

This is a styling mousse designed for use with curly hair and is designed to help give your curls a natural look with flexible hold.

The packaging

This mousse comes provided in tall thin aluminium can. This has a plastic press down dispenser on the top that allows the mousse to be released.

How to use this

Simply press down on the dispenser to allow some mousse to be released. This is simple to use and the mousse will expand once it hits your hand. I usually apply this mousse to wet hair, scrunch it through and then dry my hair before heading out for the evening. I have used this, on occasion, on dry hair and this works well too providing you have a natural curl to your hair, as I do.

This can be purchased from Boots stores and www.boots.co.uk with one can costing £1.02. There is usually a special offer of 2 for £1.50 on the line of Boots Essential mousse and I usually purchase two at a time to take advantage of this offer.

Overall opinion

The first thing I like about this 'essentials' range is that products for different hair types are coloured differently. This makes it easy to differentiate between the products that I actually want and the ones that are no use to me when browsing the shelves in Boots.

The packaging of this mousse is good. The styling is nice, it looks pretty on display in my bathroom. There is a plastic cap that protects the nozzle from damage and the nozzle itself is strong and sturdy. Many things in my bathroom get knocked off and thrown about from time to time and this has been able to withstand this on more than one occasion without breaking or becoming damaged. A light press is enough to release the mousse.

This mousse is very simple to use and works well. The only downside I can think of is that the effects do not last all day so if I am creating a more extravagant curl I will just do this when heading out for the evening and I find that this is enough time that the mousse continues working without letting me down.

My curls are left looking full of volume, texture and style when using this mousse and they have a natural flexible to them which is fantastic. My curls are able to bob around after using this and I am very pleased that they do not become stiff after using this.

The price of this mousse is fantastic and while I do end up needing to wash my hair the morning after using this I would probably wash it anyway after a night out with friends. As I have a natural curl to my hair now I do not know if this is good at styling straight hair, however, this product is sold as being designed for curly hair. I have used this for styling my hair in a different type of curl and it held in place for several hours.
