Do they work? *************** I have, what could be classed as mild to medium severe hayfever. During the summer season, I usually sneeze a lot, have a runny nose and very watery itchy eyes - all these symptoms are actually the result of both hayfever and dustmites.
I would probably say that these are not as effective as they should be. They seem to help reduce my symptoms - this is when I am indoors, they help significantly reduce the sneezing and the watery eyes, however, when I am outside - on the grass, on the street, and even in the shops I still get the symptoms quite badly again, so I would probably say that this are effective only for mild symptoms.
I actually usually take another antihistamine - ceterizine hydrochloride, but as they were making me drowsy this seemed like a possible alternative. However, out of the two the ceterizine hydrochloride certainly appears to be more active and stronger at reducing the symptoms.
Cost? ****** £1.99 for 7 tablets
Overall? ******** Unfortunately, I don't find them as effective as they should - they do help, but only a little. They are fine for mild symptoms, but when you're out and about - particularly between 5-7pm when the pollen count is at its highest, they do not have much effect. They appear to work well against dust mite allergies - when I was indoors I found this worked very quickly at stopping my sneezing and watery eyes, so it does have its uses...but unfortunately, it's not possible to rely on this as it just isn't effective enough.
Advantages: Very quick to act, cheap Disadvantages: Do not always provide long-lasting relief
...this occasion, I opted for Boots own brand hayfever relief tablets. In my experience, own brands can be just as effective at relieving symptoms as the major brand names, and cost a fraction of the price of leading brands.
A box of 7 hayfever relief tablets cost me between one and two pounds from Boots. I can't remember the exact price because I bought them quite a while ago, but they were definitely significantly cheaper than a branded make.
PACKAGING
... ...silver in colour, with the Boots logo and 'Hayfever Relief One a Day' written across the front in dark blue writing. A thin strip down the left-hand side of the packet, featuring a picture of a meadow on a Summers day, also makes it clear that the tablets are intended for the treatment of hayfever.

...~About the product~
Boots sell two own brand hayfever remedies - a regular one, which comes in an orange box, and a non-drowsy version which comes in a blue box. I bought the non-drowsy version, although it probably wouldn't have mattered which one I bought.
As well as relieving the symptoms of hayfever, it can also be taken to combat allergies, such as allergies to house dust mites, or skin allergies, such as rash, itching or hives.
Each tablet ... ...is why I bought the Boots own brand tablets in the first place. I have since noticed that Boots sell a range called Value Health, and their non-drowsy hayfever and allergy relief tablets are just 98p - and guess what? They contain 10mg Loratadine, just like these ones, so I will definitely try the cheaper option in the future.

These really did help my hayfever, and it's good that you only need to take one a day, as it's easy to remember ...

...sticky mixtures so off to Boots I went.
I spoke to one of the healthcare assistants (wonderfully helpful people who can provide a vast amount of help without you having to speak to the pharmacists who are available but you usually have to wait a while). She went through his health in general, any other medication he was taking and because he is asthmatic we went with a non-drowsy formula (which I wanted anyway) because the drowsy ones can sometimes ... ...young for the Cetirizine tablets so she suggested the loratadine ones because he is able to take those according to the new european guidelines on dose and weight.
Best of all they are on a buy one get one free, and she suggested we go with the 7 tablet pack to begin with instead of a 30 pack in case they didnt help him as much as his old medication (benadryl childrens allergy which is cetirizine) which shows they are not just out to make a quick ...

doesn't want to try as he had a bad experience with having his eyes washed out with saline in hospital and is scared of any sort of drops!!
You only need to take clarityn once a day too which is a great plus, especially if you are a child in school. It doesn't give you any drowsiness either. I find that in the hayfever season, I have to give him his medicine every day, even if the pollen count is low as it seems to break the build up in his system.
Secondly, I take a Loratadine 10mg tablet each day for a slightly different reason. Loratadine is the active ingredient in clarityn and if you have to buy this drug over the counter then I advise you to buy an own make version as it contains the same drug, but is lower in price.

Benadryl One A Day Relief
I have used numerous brands of tablets, nasal spray and even tried some injections as a last resort in the past; most of them made me drowsy, sleepy and my head felt heavy and lost concentration until I came across Benadryl One A Day Relief.
