Introduction I gave birth to my beautiful little girl, Erin on the tenth of February this year. I had a natural (vaginal) birth, however you will still need maternity pads even if you have a caesarean birth. When I was pregnant I was totally oblivious about maternity pads but obviously my midwife informed me of their purpose and the importance of them, explained to me why I would need them and I soon understood that they were a neccesity to include in my hospital bag. I decided to purchase three packs of ten as I naively thought that would be more than enough and that the lot would last until ... more

Boots Maternity Pads In those few days coming back from the hospital with newly born Jack and being in a complete and utter daze, the last thing I wanted to do was to go out and buy more maternity pads because foolishly I hadn’t anticipated how much I would bleed and for how long. Which is where Himself came in useful by having to go down to Boots and pick me up some maternity pads. I can imagine that he wouldn't have felt very confident in getting the right sort of ones and not blushing profusely when handing over the money (and my advantage card I had made him take) but luckily I hadn't ... more

People cannot have missed the fact that I have recently given birth as I don't shut up about it. Lets face it, pregnancy is awkward, labour hurts and looking after a newborn baby is hard work, so I think women earn the right to have a bit of a moan about it all. Plus I'm a Virgo and we like to complain! One of the inconvenient parts of being a woman who has recently given birth is that you tend to bleed for quite some time afterwards. The professional term for this is 'lochia' and it is basically the uterus discharging leftover blood, mucus and placental tissue. The trouble is that this ... more

When it comes to having a baby, the most unappealing part (to me anyway) was the amount of blood loss us women suffer after giving birth. Normal sanitary pads do not offer enough protection to absorb the amount of blood a women will lose. Maternity Pads Boots offer regular maternity pads and also ultra slim pads. The regular pads are now packaged in a girly, floral packet. Each pad is around 30cm in length and has a sticky label (accessed by pulling a paper tab off) which allows the pads to be stuck to underwear. There are no wings to offer additional support. These pads are designed with a ... more

***As a pre warning my review is about a “feminine” product and discusses the delights of giving birth, I’ve tried to keep it as non-graphic as possible however some may find uncomfortable reading*** When I was expecting my twin boys as a new mum I was clueless about labour and birth and the whole giving birth/ hospital experience. The word hospital bag was thrown about a lot and numerous websites and friends would list various items that need to be packed in there; some were debateable however essential items that need to be placed in there were maternity pads which is why I purchased Boots ... more
