I know, realistically, I am never going to be a beautiful bronzed goddess on my jollydays but it does not stop me from wishing I was. I have the type of skin that burns within five minutes of Geordie sun (i.e. non existent), never mind that of the Mediterranean. I am the lumpy woman who you see plastered in factor 50, wearing a large hat over her frizzy red hair under a parasol, skin glowing white at the end of her jollyday. I pretend I am happy to be ‘pale, but interesting’ but it’s not true, I want to be brown!
I do tan but it takes a lot of time and effort, usually I hire a sun bed and try to build up a bit of colour a couple of weeks prior to going away. This year Mr Tango Man (my husband) didn’t think it was necessary, as he’d been having secret sessions at the local stand ‘n tan. Shows how much notice I take of him as I have only just noticed his strange orange hue and he’s admitted to going for the past four months. Anyway, I remembered my pre-holiday stuff from last year and eventually found it hidden under a pile of holiday clothes in the cupboard.

In order for all these fantastic things to happen to my saggy, dry, white skin, I have had to apply it liberally to my body daily, for a month prior to my hols. The thick creamy lotion sinks into my parched skin rapidly without any greasiness. The blurb advocates massaging it gently into the skin. I just lob it on and hope for the best. Oh it also says to wash hands after using as it can stain them, well that accounts for my brown palms then, I knew I should have read the whole thing.
Well I’m half way through that time period and can say that it has helped my skin change colour somewhat, I would say I have a healthy glow about me. As you have to use it daily I think that whatever self-tanning agent is in it is very subtle as it has built up gradually rather than screamingly obvious. Its okay going on holiday and coming back tanned but I think I would shock my work colleagues if I left work one day white and turned up brown the next day. I had different glasses on the other day and it confused some of them.
As regards the firming and moisturising properties, this product works quite well, my lumpy misshapen legs are smoother and appear to have less cellulite than normal but I think the slight change of colour could account for that. I generally suffer from cracked dry skin on my shins but have found that by gentle exfoliation followed by this stuff I have had no problems recently. It has made my belly less squidgy but I have been exercising and watching what I eat (I have watched every chocolate, every packet of crisps, etc, on its way into my mouth) and the flesh on my arms isn’t as saggy as it was. I keep showing my bum to my husband and asking if it looks different but he thinks I’m after his body and has been ignoring me so I have had to rely on mirrors. I think it has firmed up a bit. So I think this pre-holiday stuff does live up to its claims.
One problem I have had with this product is the pump dispenser, I have had to loosen it a few times as it has become clogged and ceased to function properly. I have found being gentle with it works quite well, shouting at it and throwing it at the wall doesn’t.
Of course I am very aware of the dangers of too much sun and know that this product is no substitute for my usual factor 50-sun protection. But it does make me feel a little more confident about baring my body to the suns rays on those first few days of holiday, at least it won’t be lily-white.

Advantages: Doesn't smell like fake tan Disadvantages: Price
Before going on my last holiday I took a look in the mirror and decided that my legs were looking far from fantastic and could do with a little help from one of the wonder products currently on the market. A few days later I received an e-mail from Boots.com which advertised No7 Pre-Holiday Firm Your Body Balm on a buy one get one free offer. How could I refuse????

...sight!!). so I bought the Boots No7 Firming pre holiday balm to try and set me off on the right track. This body balm also has a small amount of the self tanning agent DHA. With this in mind, this product should leave you with a hint of colour.
Being a big fan of Boots No7 products, I was hoping I would be pleased with the results. the bottles have all had a re-vamp in this range and the shimmering effect the bottle has is appealing.
The cream ... ...strokes. Here, I think is the key to helping the reduction of the appearance of cellulite, and boy do I need the help. I believe it does work too. My thighs appear smoother as a result. But drinking 2 litres of water a day could help with this. And water comes free from the tap! The cream is easily absorbed, boasting 12 hours of moisturisation. Having quite dry skin and only managing to use baby oil for quite some time, I am pleased to report that ...
