... Given the fact that I work on the No7 counter in my local Boots, I thought it might be worth a try!
But still, which product? No7 alone has 5 different tanning products! So the choice was: tinted lotion, foam, spray, wipes, or wash-off lotion? I decided on the foam, purely because I thought ... Read review
Advantages: Looks natural! Easy to apply! Disadvantages: The fragrance can get annoying!
Last month was my cousin's wedding. I was all set with my dress, makeup, and hair... I'd been working out so I'd lost a few pounds, and then I realised - I'm the palest person who ever walked the earth! (Possibly.) I had a gorgeous dress, and I wasn't going to let my pasty skin ruin it.
So here was the dilemma: sunbed or fake tan?
The fact that I burn quite easily alone didn't make the sunbed idea very attractive. And ... ...to be fake tan. But which one? Anyone who has walked into their local supermarket or department store leading up to summer will know that there are hundreds of products available! What a dilemma...
And that was without the skin cancer worries. So it had to be fake tan. But which one? Anyone who has walked into their local supermarket or department store leading up to summer will know that there are hundreds of products available! What a dilemma... Given the fact that I work on the No7 counter in my local Boots, I thought it might be worth a try!
But still, which product? No7 alone has 5 different tanning products! So the choice was: tinted lotion, foam, spray, wipes, or wash-off lotion? I decided on the foam, purely because I thought it would be easier to apply. I'd used the wash-off lotion before, but I wanted something that would last.
First, as usual, I'll describe the packaging. The Quick Dry Tinted Foam comes in a tall oblong box, in a sort of brown gradient colour which gives a summery feel. The No7 logo is in gold lettering, and the words 'Quick Dry Tinted Foam' and 'Wear Off' are printed in brown. The bottle itself is a bronze colour with the same information as the box. The lid is see-through and the dispenser is a pump-action type.
Application... As with all self-tanning products, it is crucial that you exfoliate beforehand. This helps to create a more even tone by removing dead skin cells. Before you start, shake the bottle for a while to build up the foam. Work from the feet upwards, blending the foam into your skin evenly. Don't work on areas like elbows, knees and ankles too much as the product will collect here and appear darker. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly when finished or you'll end up with big orange marks between your fingers which is hell to remove! Can you tell I'm speaking from past experience? (Hehe!)
The colour is supposed to take 2-4 hours to develop, but everytime I've applied it, it's taken at least 5 hours to show up. It seems to work better overnight, for some reason. I really like the colour it brings out, it always looks very natural and it's great for pasty people like me! Although, if you are darker-skinned, you can re-apply on top of the original application to darken the colour. One disadvantage I would point out here is the fact that the foam is clear in colour, so it is not easy to tell where you have already applied the product - I have often had small white patches on my arms due to this! Also, the fragrance is quite pleasant, but after a few hours it gets a bit annoying!
All No7 products are hypo-allergenic so this is a plus for users with sensitive skin. The product takes a few days to wear off, depending on how often you bath/shower and whether you exfoliate. No7 do sell a Corrector Wipe which will remove self-tan to an extent, but only a few hours after you have applied - which isn't great as it sometimes takes more than a few hours to develop! At £10.50 a bottle, this is a relatively reasonably priced self-tan product.
I would recommend this product as it is easy to apply and the colour is natural, but I wouldn't say it was the best self-tan product on the market.
Advantages: The pre-coloured lotion takes the gueswork out of the application and result. Disadvantages: No7 Quick Drying Sunless Tanning Lotion does not protect you from the harful UVA rays of the sun.
amount of staining. I also would advise users to apply the lotion and let it dry thoroughly before going to bed, because some of the excess did come of on my bed sheets. However the slight staining did come out in the wash, so no harm done there.
Having tried several other leading brands of instant tanning lotions, I really like this product. The price also compares very favourably with other leading brands on the market, at £10.00 for 200mls. A further benefit of buying at Boots, was that they often have selling promotion offers. For example, because I purchased the BootsNo7 Sunless Tanning Kit containing :- No7 Pre-holiday Brightening Body Buffer: No7 Sunless Tanning QuickDryFoam and No7 Perfect Finish Correction Wipes, at the same time as buying BootsNo7QuickDrying Sunless Tanning Lotion , I also got a free No7 Moisture ...
