I first stumbled across this little miracle cream completely by accident. Approximately six months ago, I bought some Boots No 7 cosmetics, mascara and an eye pencil, if I remember correctly. There was some sort of ‘special offer’ on at the time, which I wasn’t aware of – spend £15.00 or more on Boots No 7 cosmetics and you get a free ‘gift pack’, consisting of a few different No 7 products, including, nail varnish, moisturising day cream, an eye-brow pencil a make up bag, and Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect Serum.
I took my little booty bag home and over the following few weeks, proceeded to work my way through my bag of freebies. Most of the stuff was fairly run-of-the mill, but when I cam to use my Protect and Perfect Serum, it was another matter. My freebie consisted of an extremely small (5ml) tube of Protect and Perfect Serum and the first time I used it I was impressed. The tube advised to spread evenly over both the face and neck area, after carefully cleansing the skin. I did jut as it instructed and almost immediately I felt a definite difference in the feel of my skin. I know it sounds unbelievable, but once the cream had had time to penetrate, my skin felt decidedly smoother and even tauter. I continued to use the cream each morning and night, but as the tube was so tiny, this barely lasted me a week and I found that I needed to buy some more, as I loved the feeling it gave to my skin.
The following Monday during my lunch break, I wandered into town to my nearest Boots and went straight to the No 7 counter. I scanned the shelves but couldn’t find the elusive Protect and Perfect Serum. Once I’d caught the attention of the Sales Advisor and explained to her what I was looking for, she just shook her head and smiled. She told me she was very sorry but they had run out of stock. She went on to say that I’d be very lucky to find it anywhere as sales of Protect and Perfect Serum had far exceeded their expectations, apparently due to a recent Horizon documentary, which had been shown on BBC2.
The Sales Advisor went on to explain that the TV documentary had looked at various cosmetic claims regarding anti-aging products and that No7’s Protect and Perfect Serum had come out tops as far as anti-aging claims were concerned. A leading dermatologist from Manchester University had investigated claims by numerous manufactures regarding anti-aging creams and had come to the conclusion that this particular product seemed to work far better than any of the others, including many very expensive and better known brands. The result of this programme was that thousands of women had flocked to their nearest Boots stores and bought up all the available stocks. I was devastated. Here I had finally stumbled across something which really seemed to work wonders for my skin and every Boots branch appeared to be out of stock.
I moaned about my dilemma to my husband when he got back from work that evening. I didn’t think he was listening to me really as he just ‘ummed and ‘aahed over tea. However, the following week he had to go away to London on business. When he got back, lo and behold he presented me with a full-sized tube of the magical cream I’d been looking for! He obviously must have been listening to me droning on. He said he’s just walked into a major store in North London and picked one up no bother – it was as easy as that! I was ecstatic! The bottle he bought for me was a 30ml glass bottle complete with a very handy pump dispenser, so I can apply as little or as much as I want. I have to say, a little really does go along way though, and this is lasting me quite well, even though I use it twice a day.
The cream itself appears a little runny in consistency when you first pump it out of its container, but it actually isn’t once you apply it to your face. It’s a light off-white in colour and doesn’t smell of anything I can detect, so I guess it’s fragrance-free. It’s also hypo-allergenic, which s good for me, as my skin will often react with products which are not hypo-allergenic. The information leaflet states it contains “concentrated levels of collagen-boosting ingredients to smooth out lines and firm the surface of the skin” along with “skin-protecting antioxidants to help prevent damage from sun exposure, air conditioning and pollution”. It all sounds very grand, but I tend to ignore that stuff and simply go by how it feels on my face and how it makes me look. I can honestly say that it does make a real difference to my complexion. It seems to smooth out fine lines. I don’t think I have any ‘real’ wrinkles just yet, but hopefully, when they do start to appear, this stuff should eliminate them too!!
I’ve actually been back to my local Boots store since trying to find this product the first time, but stocks are still sold out. I was advised by a No 7 Advisor to check Boots website to see if I would be able to order any this way. I checked recently and it states that they are only allowing one bottle per customer, as stocks are very limited. Apparently, one bottle of Protect and Perfect Serum is sold every ten seconds!! I think this in itself is testimony that it works as people are going back for more and more! At £16.oo per bottle it’s not cheap, but having said that, it’s not the most expensive moisturiser I’ve ever bought either, and I would have to say that it’s money well spent! It makes an excellent make up base as it smoothes out my complexion and makes it more radiant and definitely makes me look a lot brighter and wide awake.
For more information, visit www.boots.co.uk or try popping into your local branch of Boots – you may just hit lucky and find some!!

Review of Boots No.7 Protect and Perfect Beauty Serum
Advantages: Relatively inexpensive, does smooth and moisturise skin. Disadvantages: Spots! Chemical smell.
...to work. That product was Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum. Cue women flocking to Boots in their thousands. Except me.
I have always been very sceptical about the anti-aging claims made by beauty products, and even though "Horizon" is generally considered a serious, ethical programme, I wasn't struck by its findings. I continued happily with the Sanctuary moisturiser that I had been using for years. Until two things happened.
My two sisters ... ...the Beauty Serum.
Then Boots changed the formulation of my Sanctuary moisturiser, so I decided to switch products. I picked up 30ml of the No 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum and a 50ml pot of Time Resisting Day Cream.
My sister in law's Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum came in a glass bottle with a pump-action top but Boots have changed the packaging, presumably due to availability issues after the Horizon programme aired. Now it comes in a slim, ...

...I found myself at the Boots No 7 counter.
I bought along with a few other items because I was clutching an extra points voucher, a £5 discount voucher and was additionally enticed by the 3 for 2 offer. For a bargain hunter like me, with the ethos "points make prizes", this was retail heaven!
**What does this promise to do?**
Once again, I am confounded and astounded by the claims, but this one promises " younger looking skin in just 4 weeks".
... ...online at www.boots.co.uk or from Boots stores.
**What I think**
I don't know how much younger it is meant to make you look, but I haven't had people who haven't seen me for a while asking why I look different! As yet, nobody has asked if I have been in some kind of time capsule.
However, having used it for the suggested 4 weeks, my skin does feel much more moisturised and doesn't look as "tired". As I mentioned before, this could be due to the ...

Advantages: packaging's OK Disadvantages: Expensive, brought my skin out in lumps
...BBC's horizon programme showed that Boots No.7's Protect and Perfect Serum was proved to reduce wrinkles following an independent study. Following this programme sales of the serum increased by over 2000%. I didn't actually watch the show, but as I shop in Boots a lot I twigged that there was something going on. Whenever I was near the No.7 counter, I would see countless women coming up asking assistants when the product would be back on sale, this ... ...the store announcing that it had sold out, but would be back in stock soon. I looked on eBay and found that the cream which normally retails at £16.75 was going for over £80.
I didn't fall for the hype, and my mam, who saw the original show, said the person who had done the original study had gone on another TV show and said that this was the only cream tested, against one costing over £200, and so there was nothing to say other creams in this price ...

Advantages: Serum which perfects the skin of a lot of women Disadvantages: No longer in nice bottle
...and I was also using Boots products for this. My bottle has a push down dispenser, so it was easy to dispense two little squirts which I then smoothed onto my face and neck avoiding my eyes, and massaging in with my finger tips. The leaflet says this stimulates the blood flow to the skin which may help keep it supple and revitalised. Then I applied either day or night cream suitable for my skin - again Boots products.
It is different from other ... ...dispense. I rather think Boots have made a bigger profit on this packaging, and I prefer the glass bottle with gold neck and pearly lid - classier than a plastic tube.
I now use it a few times a week, and it is maintaining my skin in a good condition.
I have to say there is a big improvement in my skin, which I thought wasn't too bad to begin with. The pores in my nose area are hardly noticeable, fine lines on my face have filled in, people comment ...

Boots No7 Protect and Perfect Serum
With warmer weather on its way I thought it was probably time to drag myself out of the gutter and dust myself off. Close examination of my skin last month led me to the horrifying conclusion that at just twenty-four years of age it might be necessary to invest an anti-aging serum of some description. To be honest, if you look at my profile picture, do you suppose I look twenty-four? I'm guessing no given that ... ...flabby skin everywhere!
To Boots I descended then with these general requirements in mind but no specific product(s). Scanning the anti-aging shelves, the first item to catch my eye was "Boots No7 Protect and Perfect Serum". Does anyone else remember the overwhelmingly positive publicity it received from a university study evaluated on "Horizon" back in 2005? I certainly did and that's why it suddenly became my first choice. At £16.75 for a tiny ...

I am a fan of most of the BootsNo7 range and think it is every bit as good as many more expensive brands I have tried. You may remember earlier in the year all the hype about Bootsno7protect and perfectbeautyserum following a horizon programme that proclaims this was one anti-aging product that actually worked. Well on the back of this success Boots have recently launched a protect and perfect foundation. Boots claim that this is no ordinary foundation, as it will actually help to improve the appearance of your skin even when you remove it! With claims like these I couldn't wait to try it for myself.
The foundation.

The foundation comes in a fairly plain looking glass bottle. It has a pull off black lid that I find very difficult to get off! The bottle has a pump dispenser and that thankfully is easy to use. It ...
Advantages: works brilliantly Disadvantages: expensive
, my dark circles seem to have gotten darker rather than lighter in appearance. However, after a few weeks of using this No7 Eye Cream as part of my daily skin care routine I was seeing improvements. The eye cream is said to work best when used in conjunction with BootsNo7Protect and PerfectBeautySerum but I however cannot really afford to buy this eye cream and the beautyserum as it is on the expensive side.
I used the cream both before going to bed and after my wash in the morning and perhaps this helped with the process as it didn't seem too long before I found my dark circles were not so dark and my under eye skin slightly firmer meaning the wrinkles seemed to slightly shy away. I honestly feel that this is one product that really does what it says on the pot and am quite astounded.
I found using the eye cream easy and it ...
Advantages: Does what is says, brightens skin around eye, reduces puffiness Disadvantages: Isn't moisturising enough, can cause stinging
Type: Anti dark circles
Introduction
After finishing my pots of Lancome Renergie Morpholift Eye Cream Lancome I decided to try and see what that publicity surrounding the proven effectiveness of the BootsNo7Protect & PerfectBeautySerum was all about. I was more than happy with my Lancome cream, but the low price I had paid initially for it had suddenly gone up so what better time than now to see it the claims were true?
The packaging
The cream comes in a recyclable cream coloured pot with a teacup shape and a screw-on lid that covers the entire top half of the pot. The reason I don't like the design is because the opening of the pot is tiny, only half as wide as the perimeter of the lid itself. It can be awkward to scoop out the contents sometimes but it's probably there to protect the cream from ...
