Strange as it may sound I like getting my eyebrows waxed, the only downside is that the area under my left eyebrow doesn't like it at all and every time I had the treatment it ripped the same place, so although I had perfectly shaped eyebrows without any stragglers I ended up with a not so perfect scab for a week!
Hence the fact that I opted for Boots Facial Hair Removing Cream for my eyebrows.
********************************************************************** Packaging and Contents ********************************************************************** ~ Rectangular box with 'half' a picture of a girl in a red swimsuit. (I say half because it shows her from the elbow to the nose area) ~ Inside the box there are 2 tubes: 25ml of facial hair removing cream 15ml of finishing cream which helps prevent redess and irritation. It's special PH formulation helps restore the skin's PH to it's natural level. ~ A very large spatula, very much like I used to find in Immac products for my legs. Needless to say I don't use this spatula, a cotton bud is much more effective and delicate in applying the hair removing cream to small areas.
********************************************************************** What it promises to do ********************************************************************** Gently and effectively removes unwanted facial hair. Specially formulated with shea butter and camomile extract so suitable for sensitive skin
********************************************************************** Instructions of use ********************************************************************** Remember to test your skin by applying the cream to a small area , wait 24 hours to see if your skin can cope with the product!
1. Apply the facial hair removing cream to the area in a thick even layer, do not rub it in. 2. Avoid contact with your eyes. If it gets in to your eyes rinse with cold water. 3. Leave for 3 -4 minutes, gently remove some of the cream and if the hair comes away easily, the treatment is complete. 4. If not, leave on for a further 2 mins and retest. 5. Don't leave on for more than 5 minutes. 6. Remove the rest of the cream taking care not to scrape your skin. 7. Wash away any remaining cream with tepid water, don't use soap as this could irritate the skin. 8. Pat face dry and apply a thin layer of the finishing cream until absorbed.
********************************************************************** My experience ********************************************************************** As stated earlier I prefer to use a cotton bud instead of the bulky spatula that is provided. Both creams are very easy to apply and remove if you make a mistake and don't want to end up with half an eyebrow. Since I have only used it on my eyebrows which I think by nature are more stubborn hairs than any other type of facial hair, I can only pass judgement on this area. I find that my eyebrow stragglers take far longer than the recommended 5 minutes. Always one to live in hope, I removed the cream this evening in the hope that because it was a new packet it would work more efficiently than my older one. But no, none of the hairs came off and I had to leave it on for 10minutes until the vast majority wiped off. I still then had to get the tweezers out to pluck out the remaining stubborn ones. I have used this product for a few years now so I wouldn't advise you to leave it on for longer than the suggested time until you know whether your skin can cope with it.
The finishing cream is very soothing and feels cool. My eyebrows are fine, just a bit tingly and a little pinky which usually dies down after half an hour or so.
Forgot to mention, the hair removing cream doesn't smell the best but the finishing cream has a good clean, fresh smell.
********************************************************************** Price ********************************************************************** As of January 2006, £2.59 per packet but Boots have a BOGOF offer at the moment so a good result!
********************************************************************** Precautions ********************************************************************** ~ Don't use hot water or soap before or after application. ~ Test your skin if using for the first time. ~ Wait 24 hours before using anti-perspirant, perfume or astringent lotion to the treated area. ~ Wait 48 hours between applications. ~ If you feel any tingling remove the cream with tepid water. ~ Don't use on inflamed skin.
In short, this will never compete with waxing in terms of removal of unwanted hair...........it leaves a few stragglers which means you have to pluck and the hairs start to rear their ugly follicle heads within 7 - 10 days. But it is great for people like myself whose eyebrows can't handle waxing.
I just wish that Boots would get the timescales right.....perhaps the 5 minutes is for very sensitive areas like the upper lip and they are covering their backs by setting a maximum.
Advantages: USED CORRECTLY HELPS PREVENT ANY EMBARRASSING MOMENTS Disadvantages: IF USED INCORRECTLY CAN RESULT IN SORE RED SKIN
...went along to my local boots chemist and spoke to the pharmacist who recommended, boots own facial hair removing cream. I explained to him that I had already tried Immac and dimples, to which he explained that I should only use creams designed for specific areas of the body, and that the ones I was using could be quite harsh on sensitive parts of the body.
I purchased the cream at £2.59, a high price was my first impression, but then if it works ... ...you have not recently tried Boots hair removing cream test your skin before hand as described in the instructions.
I never tested my skin before hand I knew best.
3, Wait 24 hours before applying anti-per spirant or perfume,

Advantages: includes a little tube of soothing cream, needed for the BURNS Disadvantages: doesnt take ANY hairs off, leaves skin red and sore.
I have used a few of these sorts of creams before and never got perfect results but most at least took a few hairs off, but this cream did nothing of the sort. I was careful to make sure i got the timing EXACTLY right, and when i wiped the cream off that was the only thing that came off, it didnt take ANY HAIRS OFF MY SKIN AT ALL, i looked carefully at the cream to see but theres wasnt one that i could see it took off. ONLY pro to this is that you get a finishing cream of cocoa butter and vitamin E, which slightly soothes the area, but you can get a pot of cocoa butter anywhwere. apart from that being included, this product is useless. ...
