We decided on a Boots own filter as my sister in law has one, and they have never had any problems with it.

Advantages: all of the above - plus never having to buy bottle water. I use it in the steamer too and it doesn't fur up as quickly Disadvantages: easy to forget to change the filter. You soon know by the taste and appearance of hot drinks

It was about £14 to buy and came with 2 spare filter cartridges for hard water. You soak wash the jug out, then soak a filter in the water so it can expel any trapped air bubbles. You then slot the filter into the hole, reset the counter to zero (this measures how many times the jug has been filled up, so you know when to replace the filter). ... ...you are away.
Our jug holds about a litre of water, I am not sure if they do bigger or smaller ones. We wanted a slimline shape as it fits in the fridge better.
When you first fill up the jug, the water is all murky with them little bits floating in it like dust. When it has filtered through, the water is crsytal clear (delicious when chilled).
The filter needs replacing once a month and they cost about £3.50 each. I tend to stock up as they have ...

The Water filter Review ofBoots Own Water Filterby

Advantages: Water tastes better. Disadvantages: Filters can be expensive to keep replacing.
My opinion is about a boots water cooler.
This is a product that I think that every household should have.
I bought one of these recently, they have been advertised a lot on television, so I thought that it would be a good idea.
On hot days this product is a star, you put it in the fridge and nicely chilled water comes out. I don't like the taste of tap water when it has that strong chlorine taste on rare occasions.
I tried the water on its own ... ...knowing that the water is good for you is a bonus because all of the bad chemicals (e.g. chlorine) are taken out through the filter.
My only complaint about an amazing product such as this one is that the filters can be expensive to keep replacing, and there is nothing wrong with tap water anyway (or so I have been told).
This product is a must for every household, it can be used all of the time and tastes lovely. In summer, it saves making ice ...

Advantages: Nice tasting water again Disadvantages: cartridges are maybe a little expensive, lid/filter holder falls out if tipped too far
...ready to use.
The Boots cartridges are about £3.50 each, for either hard or soft water, and there are multipacks available too. When I bought my jug, Boots had an offer on, three for two, on the cartridges so I stocked up. From what I've heard and read, Boots do this quite often, but I thought I'd be prepared.
Always thought these things were a bit of a gimmick until I bought one, but I can highly recommend them. ...

I live in Leicester, a city plagued by what is referred to as 'hard water'. When you turn on a tap in Leicester, the same clear fluid falls out that you would expect to find falling out of any tap in the civilised world. But the water here is different... more
I live in quite a hard water area and find that the water is only drinkable using the filter. The taste of the water is vastly improved, mainly because the filters take out all or most of the limescale. They last for about a month before needing... more
Imagine real tomatoes from your garden that have not been made to artificially turn red by pumping a gas in the glasshouse, and not been grown in water only to have the nitrates it need to be added by a machine :(
