Product being tested - Boots Skin Clear Oil Free Moisturiser
I bought this moisturiser in December as i was running out of my botanics boots pore perfecting moisturiser and needed a replacement. At this was cheaper than all the other moisturisers at around £2.49 i chucked it in the basket and off i went to the til.
Packaging...
It comes in a purple plastic tube. The tube is tinted a light mauve colour with a dark purple screw cap plastic base. The design is like most other moisturisers. Easy to store in a makeup/overnight bag or on upright on your bathroom shelf. It has "Skin Clear" printed in bold white typing on the bottle so is easy to spot.
Promises Promises...
This moisturiser is an oil free one and,
1. Contains microsponges 2. With natural fruit acids 3. promotes shin free skin
It promises to lightly hydrate the skin, leaving it "smooth and clear". The "microsponges" are designed to absorb excess oil and keeps the skin shine free. It should also prepare the skin for makeup. The fruit acids it contains are designed to encourage blemish free skin without blocking your pores. Suitable for normal to oily skin.
Testing....
I have used this product every morning since i bought it. At night i dont use it as i have a botanics night cream. After cleasing and toning my skin i apply the moisturiser using my finger tips all over my face, of course avoiding the eye area. It does sink well into the skin and it certainly leaves your skin matte free, so for people with shiney outbreaks, this is very good. The smell is a bit offputting. I cant really describe it but its not nice!
Since using this product i havent suffered any large breakouts so it certainly doesnt aggravate the skin.
A downside is that as a moisturiser it doesnt hydrate the skin adequatly for me. I have started using the clinque range and i find this sometimes leaves my skin dryer than normal, and this moisturiser doesnt really replenish my skin enough as i would like.
For the price, this basic moisturiser is great. Especially for young skin and teenagers and students on a budget, like me!
However i dont think i would but this again as i am after a stronger moisturiser.
It does also contain fruit acids, which while being good for encouraging clear smooth skin can also make the skin sensticity to the sun and UV rays so it is recommended that you wear a sun protection factor. This is another downside to this product, it doesnt contain an SPF whereas the botanics one does, although that one doesnt leave your skin matte, so you sort of have to weigh up the balances!

Advantages: Good for a couple of years Disadvantages: Doesn't have the same effect after prolonged usage
...I sent my Fiance to boots to get the cheapest moisturiser that would do me while I was away and he came back with a miracle! - Boots Skin Clear Oil Free Moisturiser priced at £2.99.
It is a no frills product which comes in a simple blue/lilac tube of 75ml with white and green writing. It promotes shine free skin and is made with natural fruit acids. It has antibacterial properties to fight spots.
It does literally do what it says on the tube. It ... ...you feeling comfortable not feeling like you need to wash your face. It is the perfect moisturiser to use under makeup. I often find after washing my hair that I have an itchy forehead due to the shampoo over-cleaning my skin and leaving it dry, but this cream sorts that out too.
For a good couple of years it helped my skin probIems and cleared my blemishes, but now my skin has either changed completely or become resistant to the spot fighting properties ...

Advantages: It actually does what it says it does and doesn't cost the earth. Disadvantages: You'll be going back and forth to Boots to stock up if they run out.
...looking for in my local Boots store. Just on a whim I spotted the fairly priced moisturiser while considering another more expesive leading brand. I decided to buy both the expensive alternative and the Boots brand just to try it as it was so cheap and I was suprised at how better it was. I loved how healthy my skin looked, it was soft, clear and the most balanced its been in years. It also helped reduce the visibility of the slight shadows I'd developed ...

Advantages: Cheap, non-pore blocking Disadvantages: Needs to come in bigger tubes!
...break the bank. This Boots version from their Skin Clear range does the job perfectly. I apply it every morning, waiting 20 mins before applying make up to allow it to be absorbed. After that my skin is hydrated for the rest of the day. It is also good for combatting the effects of chlorine on the skin, which is horribly drying.
I do still get the occasional blemish, however in general my complexion looks fresher. It is only available from Boots, ... ...it all contributes to your Boots advantage card points!
The only downside I think is that the 75ml tube only lasts me about a month and so I would like the tubes to come in bigger sizes! I do go swimming a lot though and so other users may find each tube lasts them longer. Excellent value for money though either way! Having read some of your comments I would also like to point out that this moisturiser is very basic, as the price reflects and so ...

Advantages: It doesn't take long to dry and it works. Disadvantages: Only available from Boots, though that isn't really a disadvantage.
.
It doesn't specify whether or not it is suitable for sensitive skin, but I have sensitive skin and I must admit that I have never had a problem with it, or any Boots own brand products.
What's more, it's an ideal size, so you can carry it on you, either in your pocket or in your bag, and apply as and when required. It's much better than most products out there, and what I would also strongly recommend is that when you use it, try not to put anything else on your face, unless it's a moisturiser. I'm quite partial to BootsSkinClearOil-FreeMoisturiser (also priced £2.99).
One incentive for you to buy, is that Boots are currently having a 3 for 2 offer, which includes all of their own brand SkinClear range. I'm not sure how long this offer goes on for, but these products have offers on pretty much, most of the time. ...
