I thought the insect repellent would might irritate my sensitive skin, but I wanted to banish the peeling and redness quickly, so I cautiously squirted a blob of the thin, runny white lotion into the palm of my hand.

I admit it, I'm a sun-worshipper. When I was in Tenerife recently, I lay out in the sun from 11am-1pm. Dermatologists all over are now staring at the screen in disbelief, but come on... I always feel healthier with a tan and anyway, I was wearing lots of sun lotion!
I was sat in my hotel room one afternoon, getting changed, and realised I was peeling on my shoulders, and that I had a strip of pinkness on my tummy, where my tummy was exposed and I had forgotten to put on any sunscreen! Disgusted, I reached for my sister's aftersun.

I don't normally use aftersun, only moisturiser, after I've been in the sun, and you could notice the difference immediately; the aftersun was very soothing on the redness, and after a rub with a wet towel and a quick application of aftersun, the peeling had vanished.
I slathered it all over, actually, not just the bits that needed it because it felt really soothing and calming, and left my skin feeling soft, hydrated with no peeling or flakiness! It was absorbed quickly and without any greasiness.
I was expected my skin to react badly to the insect repellent in the aftersun, but my skin wasn't irritated at all. I don't normally get bitten by mosquitoes, or anything like that, so I can't comment on the insect repellent bit.
It DID prolong my tan, actually, which I wasn't expecting, with daily use throughout the one-week holiday. A week after I have come home, I am still hanging onto my tan - it normally disappears after three-four days!
However, the smell might put some people off - it's very chemical and sweet, but I have begun to like it because it reminds me of my holiday! Other than that, it's an effective aftersun that soothes skin and prolongs your tan.
I'd recommend sticking this in the fridge before you go out in the sun, because if you've burned, then the cold aftersun feels really refreshing on your skin and wakes you up, if you tend to get a bit dozy in the sun, like me!
It is fairly priced; at £8.99 for a 400ml bottle that should last a whole family for a two-week holiday, as a little goes a long way.
Advantages: Much less peeling, smells okay, absorbs quicky Disadvantages: just smells like aftersun, bottle gets messy

Boots Soltan Aftersun lotion - 12 Hour Moisturising Aftersun Lotion I went on a 6-week trip to California this summer and anticipated needing plenty of Aftersun to put on my sunburn. As it happens the sun cream I used (Boots Soltan SPF 50+) withstood the test and I had very little sunburn, but I still went through plenty of Aftersun. I chose the Boots Soltan Aftersun lotion mainly because it was the same ... ...- ~
Soltan is the Boots own brand sun protection and as such is only available from Boots stores. The sun cream products are in yellow/orange bottles and the after sun range is in a 'cooling' blue color. There are both Lotions and Sprays available, and there are several variations of Aftersun - insect repellent, tan maximiser, kids, baby, aloe vera and some others. I have the original kind.
The lotion comes in 200ml and 400ml bottles and, during ...

...go a little bit pink. Boots soltan is great as it really does sooth your skin and is easily absorbed into your skin. It smells ok and is reasonable priced so its a good poroduct to buy. Another reason i use it is due to the fact it has a built in insect repellent - which does seem to keep the local wild life away! Obviously dont use it on small kids. ...

Being the avid sun-seeker that I am, I have tried many of the after-suns available in different stores. I came across this one purely by chance, (last minute purchase before boarding the plane at Gatwick), and have used it every since. The insect repellent I find a must as I am not a fan of creepy-crawlies, and find that my mosquito bites are now kept to a minimum. It has a pleasant aroma and is easily absorbed into the skin. Another bonus is that ... ...used on the face without you sporting a shiny forehead and nose all evening. I only use it on holiday abroad, each night after a shower, and even use it as a substitute for my normal moisturiser for a few days on my return. I came back from Greece 4 weeks ago and am still being complimented on my tan now - and after 2 weeks of sweating in temperatures of 90 degrees+ I certainly want to maintain my tan for as long as possible! I think everyones holiday ...

Advantages: UVA 50 + Disadvantages: bad odour, leaves your skin feeling oily.
last year i was going on holiday to spain, and needed a high uva protection sun lotion, with insect repellent, as im so used to getting bitten.
I went to boots, and bought soltan with insect repellent, seeing as it was on offer, buy one get one free. It comes in a 200ml bottle, (orange) with a small spray on cap.
Although it says water resistent over 3 times on the bottle, after reading the small print, it still says apply after contact with water.

So maybe you shouldnt go for the product on offer, check the small prints on the bottles before you buy. Who knows what you will find out. ...
