This product has all the benefits of your basic usual aftersun lotion, but it also has a low level of self tanning agent which alows your tan to develop, after hours, without you thinking about it (or getting burnt for that matter). You can be sipping away at your cocktail in a fancy bar, staring into some natives dark eyes and all the while soltan aftersun is improving your tan without you realising it.
--Size & cost-- It comes onloy in 150ml bottles, coming in a little bit expensive at £5.49 per bottle, working out at £3.66 per 100ml. However, if you like to be clever (like me) then keep your eyes open and wait as Boot's quite often put the product on Buy one get one free, which makes it a little more reasonable and you can quite easily go through two bottles in a summer, especially if you want to keep the tan up when you get home.
This product is slightly different to Soltan after sun, it can be easy to confuse the two if you're in a hurry, but the way I remember is that this one, the one with the tanning agent is in a squeezy bottle, similar to the style of a tube of tooth past, but only bigger. The basic after sun is in the bottle similar to most other sun protective creams, an up-right bottle. But they are both blue. Boots also do an after sun with insect repellant, also handy if your allergic.
--My experience of Soltan Aftersun-- I chose the aftersun with the tan maximiser as I wanted somthing that was going to help me improve my tan, especially during the first few days as i take a while to get any kind of real colour, then it is usually time to come home again. Now this aftersun doesn't contain high levels of tanning agent, so you can apply it happily, without worrying about streaks, it is so mild a difference you wouldn't notice the streaks. It dosn't streak in water either, it is a very natural effect it has.
--Texture of Lotion-- The after sun itself is lovely, the texture of the lotion is luxurious and creamy, without a greasy after effect. It contains Allantoin, which soothes the skin, after a days exposure. It also claims on the bottle to be "Non pore-blocking" and in my expereince I have had no problems to say otherwise.
--Directions-- The cream is suitable for use all over the body, although be careful around delicate areas such as the eyes. "apply evenly to face and body for an immediate moisturising effect. Your tan will start to intensify within just 2 hours. Wash hands immediately after use. Avoid contact with eyes, hair and fabric." The quote comes from the back of the bottle. I would suggest that although the levels of tanning agent are ,ow, be careful with lightly coloured clothing after use, until the skin is dry, as a white bra of mine ended up a similar colour to my skin on the side that has contact with skin. However it did wash out, luckily.
--Igredients-- Ok, so here's the boring bit for those of you who are allergic. *Aqua*Caprilyic/caprictriglyceride*Cetyl alcohol*Dimethicone* Petroleum* Theobroma cacao* Cetearyl isononanoate* Hydrogenated vegetable glycerides citrate* Dihydroxyacetone* Glycerin* Panthenol* Arachidyl* Carbomer* Butylparaben* Potassium hydroxide* Ethylparaben* Propylparaben* BHT* Magnesium nitrate* Methylchloroisothiazolinone* Magnesium chloride* Methylisothiazolinone. (phew..glad that's over, not exactly easy to type!!!)
--Overall--
Over all, i was very pleased with this product, I no-longer used a self tanning lotion as such, as they are too dark for me, however this works in too ways, as an after sun and as a light tanning lotion as well. Also good moisturising properties, keeps skin soft and supple at the time of year when the sun is likely to dry it out!
