Not as zingy as I would like!
Advantages cheap
Disadvantages too runny, smells synthetic
I really like the Original Source range of shower gels and my particular favourite is the lemon variety as it is so refreshing to use and smells absolutely divine. However, the shower gels are a little on the pricey side. Having run out of shower gel I was browsing the aisles in Boots when I came across their new 'Zingy' range of shower gels. Within this range there are four varieties: lemon, lime, berry and mint. Given how much I like the Original Source lemon gel I decided to give the lemon one a go and at just £1 for a 250ml tube it wasn't going to break the bank.
The shower gel comes in a clear tube which contains the bright yellow, almost luminous coloured gel. The clear tube in particular is useful as you can see exactly how much product you have left without having to guess by the weight. The front of the bottle has a picture of a lemon segment printed in white and the product name and description are written in black block capital letters, which makes it look quite similar in style to the Original Source packaging. The product claims to kick start your day, which sounded really promising and I had quite high expectations for this. The tube stands on a black, flip top lid, through which the gel is dispensed. I was surprised at how runny the consistency of this 'gel' was. I found that it was so runny that quite a lot of this ended up on the bottom of the bathtub rather than on me, which was a little annoying as it is quite wasteful!
When applied to wet skin this does produce a decent amount of bubbles. I noticed that it smelled quite zingy. It had a strong smell of lemons, more zesty than of the juice, but I thought the smell was a little synthetic. It reminded me of a lemon scented cleaning product rather than freshly squeezed lemons, as the Original Source gel does. I must admit I was not too impressed by this! Fortunately in this case the scent doesn't linger for long after I step out of the shower. The gel does a good job of cleaning my skin but does not leave it feeling particularly soft, pampered or moisturised. To be fair the product doesn't claim to be moisturising, but I did feel the need to apply some moisturiser on my skin after my shower. The gel is easy to rinse off without leaving a residue on my skin, like some shower gels can.
Overall I was not overly impressed with this gel. It was too runny which meant that a lot of it ended up on the bottom of the bathtub rather than on me! I also wasn't too impressed with the scent as it was a bit too synthetic for my liking. Now that I have come to the end of my tube I am not sure that I shall be buying this again.
