A while ago when we were childless and we could do what we wanted of an evening, we went to our friends for a meal and we noticed this strange looking object in the corner of the room. After the meal they got it out and we had such fun playing on it we bought one a few days later.
The Bop it is a hand held game which costs £17.99. It looks a bit like a UFO and definitely wouldn't look out of place if it was in the sky at night. There is a big 'push' button in the middle with two arms coming out of it. On one there is a wheel that spins and a knob to pull and on the other there is bulb to twist and a flap to flick.
When you switch the game on there is a computerized voice that tells you to either 'flick it', 'spin it', 'twist it', 'pull it' or 'bop it'. You have to simply find the right arm and follow the instructions in time with a beat of music. If you take too long or get confused then it's game over!
I find that the voice of the person is a bit annoying but the main thing is that it's loud so you can't be a bad sport and make excuses by saying 'I didn't hear what it was saying'. That was my dad's excuse!
The knobs and buttons are easy to use but when you hands start to get sweaty from the pressure of the game, they can slip off which I think just adds to the game and makes it more intense and entertaining. I do find on the odd occasion that my 'twist' or 'flick' doesn't register but I think that's more to do with the fact that I didn't turn it enough.
This game is so much fun and the great thing about it is if you get bored playing it by yourself then you can play with a bunch of friends or family. All you need to do it take it in turns performing an action, as soon as you've done it you pass it on. This adds more 'nerves' to the game because you know that you have to have your turn and pass it to the next person, leaving enough time for them to have there turn. If you don't then you ruin the circuit and everyone secretly hates you!!
I love the way that the game makes you stimulate your brain because you have to think and perform quickly or you're out.
This game would be unsuitable for those who have poor hand movement but for everyone else it's an amazingly good ice breaker. It's such a laugh and you can add to it by making the losers perform a forfeit which we often do.
A fast paced, entertaining game that can get even the most uncompetitive amongst us, up the pole!

Advantages: Addictive fun, simple to learn but difficult to master Disadvantages: Occasionally non-responsive 'Bop It!' button, voice giving commands can get annoying after a while
