This review is partially a response to a challenge from BadCompany77 who basically told me to lighten up after reviewing some serious stuff.
Bop It Extreme 2 is the latest version of a hand held game that has been around for a couple of years. I guarantee that if you originally bought this game for the kids you will end up quietly stealing into their bedrooms to sneak it out for late night bopping sessions. Bop it Extreme must be worse than crack cocaine, one hit and you are totally and irretrievably addicted. Forget drink driving, and I mean never drink and drive. Try playing Bop it after a pint or two of lager or glasses of wine and you will end up wetting yourselves with laughter and frustration. During my first late night session with my partner desperately waiting for her turn, I must admit my legs were tightly crossed while trying to break my record.
So what is this hand held phenomenom? When you first take it out of the box it looks something like a small steering wheel with two parts of the rim cut off. Turn it in your hands and have a good look before powering up. At the cut off places in the radius are four points or handles. They are labelled, 'Twist it', 'Spin it', 'Flick it' and 'Pull it'.
Now take a moment to cast your eyes and run your fingers over the option buttons. This is a much sexier experience if you have purchased the Bop it Extreme 2 black edition which I believe is the adults only model (prices later). Your sweaty little fingers will soon discover that you have a choice of four music styles or beats. Originally these are pop, rock, latin and r&b. But more will be revealed later for those with flying fingers and fast minds. The longer and more skilfully you play, the more varied and complex rhythms you can unlock.
Let's begin with a basic rhythm, say pop. Switch Bop it on in basic mode and it will play a fairly leisurely pop rhythm to you with random audio instructions to twist, spin, flick or pull one of the handles. These actions must be executed promptly to the beat or you are counted out. Sound simple? Well, yes it is to begin with, but the beat gets progressively faster and your hands end up frantically flying between the various knobs. Finally, you fail and your score is announced. Can do better, must try again, my fingers slipped on that last knob. So off you go again, determined to beat your last high score.
Let's assume you have now got the hang of Bop it Extreme 2. It gets better because you can also play it in a social group. There is a mode in which you can pass the Bop it beat between friends and I can guarantee from experience that this is hilarious. You twist or pull to the beat and very quickly pass Bop it on to the next person in the group for their response. Last time we played this at about two in the morning, I must confess I did pee myself with the unbearable tension of it all (sad but true). They should include special Bop It incontinence pants for late night alcohol fueled players like me.
A nice feature of Bop it Extreme 2 is an earphone plug in facility. Now you can plug in and play private practice sessions without driving anyone mad but yourself. Alternatively you can plug your new Bop It Extreme 2 into your hi-fi, whack up the volume and plead insanity when they try to slap an ASBO on you.
In summary Bop it Extreme 2 is:
4 different music styles: Pop, Rock, Latin, R&B Unlockable beats! 3 games in two modes - 6 ways to play Headphone jack for stealth practise sessions Battery Requirements Requires 3 x AA batteries (Not included)
I recommend that you buy this game for Christmas for as little as £29.95. I can't remember a game that was so much fun, so addictive and so frustrating at the same time. Put it in the kid's stockings and steal it immediately (midnight bopping is good for you). Bop It is almost more fun than sex, as far as I can remember!
Important Consumer Notice This is not a children's game, do not believe the publicity. I should know cos' I'm never wrong, my mum says so. And if anybody argues I'll get very upset, run up to my room and slam the door really hard. Then you'll be sorry, so there! And that weedy little Emma next door who's 7 and three quarters and picks her nose; she got a high score of 260, what a cheat!
Also available in virginal white and the usual cute kiddie colours.

...fun filled family evening of Bop It Extreme.
How do I explain this fascinating toy?
Well it is black in colour and resembles a steering wheel with four 'ends', to which these 'ends' have four peculiar looking attachments. At the centre of the toy there is a button with Bop It Extreme emblazoned across it.
One end has a large knob (ahem), which is the twist it part, the next end has a springy shaped flick it part, another has a wheel shaped spin ... ...the game by pressing the bop it button in the middle of the toy, and the game starts. A voice tells you (in random order) to either bop it, twist it, flick it, pull it or spin it. The object is to get as many right as you can, the maxumum score is 250, which Ive not yet achieved, but my big headed husband has (shame he's not as good at plumbing or we wouldnt have had a flooded kitchen the other day, but thats by the by now).

...‘Nice going, you’re out’. Bop It. A smile crosses my face and my eyes light up. I received my Bop It for Christmas a couple of years ago. It is one of my favourite things, and yet here it is in the bottom of the kids toy box. Not for long though, this is too good for children. The tidying up can wait as I sit on the floor, nodding my head to the rhythm as I spin, twist, flick, pull and Bop it. Thankfully the neighbours can’t ... ...about? Bop It Extreme is the big brother of the smaller Bop It, and one of the most addictive things you can pick up. Get stuck into this and you may be torn between Ciao and your Bop It. Imagine a small steering wheel on a racing car. A cross bar, with a big button in the middle and two curved sides, one upwards and the other down, as if wanting to form a circle, but not long enough to reach all of the way round. The open ends of these arms each ...

...a steering wheel. You hit bop it, in the middle and away you go. It starts off slowly, but the more you get it right, the faster it will get. It is all done at random, so you can not anticipate what will come next. There are two ways to play this game, with a voice telling you what to do, or just the noise the action makes. Trust me when i say, the voice is easier. If you play it with just the sound, it is still fun, but remarkably difficult. The ... ...are in, and you hit bop it, you know what to do, instantly. ...it here too. I know Bop It Extreme has actually been around for a couple of years now, and it is a definite improvement on the original (only two actions there) so I can’t resist writing about it for you.
Bop It Extreme is basically an electronic toy that adults and children can play. Heck, my Grandma even had a go. It looks a bit like a steering wheel only it’s not entirely round and it’s in lots of wacky colours. It has a button in the middle ... ...voice gives you instructions like Bop It, Twist It. Flick It. Pull It and Spin It. You have to do exactly that with the relevant gadgets that are located in four different ‘corners’ of the toy. I use the word corner for lack of a better word but you do have to look at this thing to understand. (Website address below).
So, in summary, one gadget can be flicked, one can be pulled (oo-er), one can be flicked and one can be twisted. The button in the ...

Bop it is a highly interactive game whereby you are told what to do by a voice that appears out of a machine. Weird I know. The Bop-it game is actually shaped like a steering wheel that doesn't quite meet at the top and bottom. On each of the four ends there are an array of knobs and wheel type things which are what you play the game with. In the middle of the steering wheel where the horn would normally be you will find ... ...*****Let the games commence*****
To start the game you will need to first insert the ubiquitous batteries that obviously are not included in the price of the game. This game takes 3AA batteries to run although they seem to last for absolutely yonks, although the frequency with which you play the game will have a bearing on this, I all honesty I don't think you will be playing this for hours on end.
To really start the game you need to select which ...

Advantages: Addictive! Great as a party game Disadvantages: End up spending too much time playing it!!!
Wow!!! I've had my eye on this toy for months, but never thought I could justify £20+ for a simple looking game. Anyway, I recently saw this on sale for just under £18, and I couldn't resist!
It's a fantastic game, and so simple to understand and pick up. There are just 5 actions to perform, and all you have to do it follow the instructions shouted to you by the toy. Sounds simple enough doesn't it? But it is just so addictive!!! You might think it's child's play, but you'd be surprised how easily confused you can get with the music and instructions constanlty coming.
The build of the toy itself feels good. It feels solid, and the rubber grips makes sure you won't be dropping it easily.
There are 2 different ways of playing the game, and both ways can be played either solo, against someone, or in a group.

Bopitextreme 2 is great family entertainment and keeps us all amused for hours on end, it is such a simple thing and is something that you can play on you own or with a group of people.
BopItExtreme 2 has 4 different music styles from Pop, Rock, Latin and R&B, there is also the choice of 3 games in two modes so you have 6 different ways to play. This is not great when it comes to batteries as it requires 3xAA batteries.
BopItExtreme 2 is an electronic game that you can bop, twist, pull, spin and flick different parts of the toy. With a voice directing your every move of what you should do, the more you get in time and without touching the wrong part the faster it goes, and when you go wrong you will know about it.

I just bought this toy for my son this christmas and already its becoming a firm favourite as well as a source of extreme annoyance.
~What is it~
Basically its a battery operated toy that instructs you to either
Bopit
Flick it
Spin it
Twist it
Pull it
You have to twist, pull etc the correct extremity in time or else you're out.
~Modes~
Beat Bop - Here you have to pull, twist or whichever depending upon the corresponding sound. Unfortunately I havent found a way to find out which sound is which yet, so I'm basically out after the first instruction.
Vox Bop - The easier mode, here you are told what to doing in words rather than sounds. The only problem here was at first it was hard to understand what the voice was actually saying. Flick It in particular sounds a lot like swig it. But after a few games you get used ...
