Forget Thatcher. Dismiss Boudicca. You can even send home Pankhurst. Women's finest hour is now courtesy of a Smith. Yep, I was the first to complete Bopit - defeating all the men of the household and achieving the finest hour of my life. Thus, if you're an underestimated woman with no real sense of accomplishment in your life, then purchase a Bopit and all your dreams will come true. Or, in real life, all the men will pretend they didn't like it anyway and it's a childish game which will somewhat deflate your ever-fragile balloon. Damn men.
Enough misandry for the time being. Last Christmas I was lucky enough to receive two Bopits from close family members who should a) really discuss with each other what presents they're considering buying and b) shouldn't shop at WHSmiths where there was an offer of 3 games for the price of 2. Regardless, I was as happy as a happy person on Happy Day (give it time and Clintons will snatch that idea with their grubby little hands). Luckily Christmas was at mothers where she has an endless supply of batteries so I yoinked 3AAs (and then I had to root in her drawers for one of those tiny screwdrivers to open the battery section of the Bopit) and eventually everything was in its rightful place and my world was complete once more.
As usual, the instructions remained unopen but due to the simplicity of Bopit, it was very easy to get started - pull the blue foot and you're off. So that you'll never have to open the instructions or read another review, I'll tell you everything there is to know about the Bopit under some handy headings.

Bopit is an electronic hand held game for ages 8+ (although there's a brat on youtube who's 6 and apparently a genius) that shouts instructions for you to follow - Flick it, Bop it, Twist it, Pull it or Spin it which must be fulfilled within a certain time frame that gets shorter and shorter the more you survive. There's the option to play Vox-Bop which is where the electronic bloke actually speaks the instructions or Beatbop whereby an annoying noise is emitted which you're supposed to copy. You can either play alone, one-on-one or in a group. So that's 6 versions of play. There's Latin, Rock, R&B and Pop beats that play whilst you bopit, and there's more that are unlocked as you play but to be honest, who really listens to it?
~~*~~ What's it look like? ~~*~~
It's a bit like a steering wheel with bits missing (just look at the pictures) and by maintaining the ten-to-two position you'll probably achieve maximum results unlike the one handed blokes in the family who try and do everything with their right hand. In the centre is the Bopit button, on one side is Flick it (green) and Spin it (orange wheel) and on the other is Twist it (yellow cone) and Pull it (blue foot). What you do with each bit is cunningly disguised in the description of it. It's pretty attractive if you like that kind of thing.
~~*~~ How do I use it? ~~*~~
To start; pull on Pull it. This is the magic voice that describes the gameplay - once you hear the version you want, just press the Bopit button. And off you go. Spin it controls the sound level though the clever people at Hasbro have included a little jack for you to either plug your headphones in for deceptive practice sessions or to attach your hi-fi to annoy the pants off your neighbours. Flick it changes the VoxBop or BeatBop and Twist it is possibly the most important part - the Hi-Score - essential when ringing your brother merely to inform him that you've finished Bopit and that he can throw his out. Remove the batteries and the high score is lost (an indispensable way to annoy fellow family members). In solo mode, each time you achieve the action required of you, you get a point - when you fail to complete the action, the high score is shouted at you by the magic voice. One-to-one requires two people to hold an 'arm' each and perform the actions required - bear in mind you share the Bopit button in the centre and essentially, the first to hit it, wins. The pass-it group game is pretty much an elimination competition best played when a little tipsy.
~~*~~ Is it fun? ~~*~~
Well, if you enjoy spending Boxing Day in A&E with an electronic toy lodged in your rear because it's really annoyed everyone in the house, then yes. Actually, it's fun regardless of where it's put. The solo version is all about getting a personal best and achieving the high score (unfortunately the game is complete when you reach 250 and that's that really). The two other games involve head to head competition and therein lies the problem - you need friends to begin with but bear in mind, they may not be best buddies afterwards.
~~*~~ Where can I get one? ~~*~~
If you too have an urge to irritate siblings, parents, dogs and neighbours then purchase one at all good high street retailers such as Argos, Tesco, WHSmiths etc or online (virtually anywhere). Prices vary from £15 to £25 but there are loads on ebay (I just sold mine on there and some lucky bugger got it for £6.55, dammit) but whatever price you pay, the amount of entertainment held within is definitely worth it. For the official product retail site go to www.hasbrotoyshop.co.uk (as if my review wasn't enough for you).
NB: Some controversy exists over the correct spelling of the toy - Hasbro have it as Bop IT, some retailers have it as Bop It and Bopit - I couldn't give two flying potatoes which of these you use but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
Advantages: Addictive fun, simple to learn but difficult to master Disadvantages: Occasionally non-responsive 'Bop It!' button, voice giving commands can get annoying after a while
Having been introduced to ‘Bop It Extreme’ by means of playing with my A-level Chemistry teacher’s original version of the MB game last summer, I was sufficiently addicted to persuade my mum that Bop It Extreme 2 was an essential ‘household’ present come the annual frantic Christmas shopping dash this December. She took some persuading…’But this is a child’s toy…’ she protested (the youngest person in our household being 16 this was a fair point ... ...spirit of Christmas £25 was forked out in Debenhams and Bop It Extreme 2 returned home with us.
So what does it look like?
Bop It Extreme 2 bears resemblance to the steering wheel of a car, but with a section missing from the top of the wheel and another section missing from the bottom. It has an almost spherical plastic section in the centre of this ‘wheel’ (attached to the wheel itself by two dark greyish transparent plastic tubes). A large circular ...

Advantages: Mega fun, hours of endless entertainment, educational. Disadvantages: expensive can cause headaches from concentrating too long.
Bop it Extreme 2 is an excellent game to play for kids and adults alike. It is a fun, fast and exciting game best played with groups of people. When I played it I played it with 6 people and we took it in turns to pass it round. It would therefore make a good Christmas game for play before and after the meal. So really it would make an ideal gift for anyone this Christmas, but is also quite pricey though it is only a toy it is well worth it just ... ...I think it is over priced for just an electronic toy. A sensible price for me would be about £15, but this toy would set you back about £30. In fact, I have just taken a look now to price it for you and the cheapest you can get this for is, £19.99 plus £2.95 which is the postage price. I have taken a look at other prices slightly lower, but the price for postage is more. You can get the toy for £19.99 from LX Direct. I suspect you could probably ...

...toys. Apart, that is, for Bopit Extreme 2. I have no shame in admitting that I can find pleasure in testing my own "rhythmical reactions" with this little toy for the young and the old. Whereas with most products you can ascertain what the product actually is from its name, the Bopit is unique in that you truly can't. And to be honest, even if you were shown the Bopit Extreme 2, you would not be any the wiser. So I am now going to try and describe ... ...looks like, what does the Bopit actually do? The mystery is solved: Bopit is an interactive toy, which works a bit like "Simon Says" in that it tells you to do something, and you obey until it catches you out. To start of with you pull down on the blue lever. You are then given a few options asking which game you want to play. Here you find that the machine seems to speak a different language to you! Suddenly this loud computerised voice boldly announces, ...

...is a big button with Bopit Extreme 2 written on it. The whole game is of quite a sturdy construction and it feels nice and solid in your hands. It has to be of solid construction as it does get a bit of a beating, especially with more than one of you playing with it! There are various game modes you can play so you can play : - Solo; play on your own - Pass it; play with as many people as you like and pass the game when your turn is over - One on ... ...of the game each to play. Once you have selected the mode of game play by pulling the 'pull it' end you hit the big centre button to get going. A beat will start and voice commands will be given to you and you must twist, pull etc the corresponding item as quickly as possible. If you make a mistake or don't get the correct one in time it is game over. The aim is to get as many correct answers in a row as possible. I have managed to get around 100 ...

Advantages: good fun, cheap entertainment Disadvantages: annoying after a while and damn fustrating!!!!
The festive period always throws up a host of weird and wonderful games and toys for us to amuse ourselves, no more so than this strange contraption. I was first introduced to this game the Saturday after Boxing day by my better halfs, sister and husband, we went round for a few drinks and some silly games. There were no children there, just about 8 adults, so you could imagine my surprise when someone pulled out Bop-it, with it being primarily aimed ... ...taken back, two hours later i was fighting people for the next go, and two days later i was waiting outside Argos ready to buy one.
If you don't know what a Bop it is then please allow me to explain, Bop-it is an electronic game where-by you have to carry out the action that the stupid American voice tells you to, much like the favourite kids game 'Simon Says'. The device, designed to be held in your hands, has various things for you to do. With ...

Advantages: fun, good for reflex skills, addictive Disadvantages: addictive, no volume button to lower sound
Bopitextreme is just so much fun, I bought this for my son 2 years ago for christmas and this is still as popular today in our house as it was then.
HOW IT LOOKS
Bop it extreme is a black wheel shaped object that has 2 handles either side for you to grab hold of, at the end of the handles there are 4 different shaped buttons that are different colours. There is a red wheel , a green ziz zag button, a blue tear drop button and a yellow knob shaped button. It has a big purple button in the centre of the wheel. it has the words bop it extreme across the centre of the purple button. The game is made out of a hard plastic and can be held anyway up, backwards, forwards, doesn't really matter as long as commands are followed.
OBJECT OF THE GAME
Bopitextreme is manufactured by hasbro and is an electonic game. The object ...

Advantages: excellent for hand /eye/brain co-ordination Disadvantages: addictive
I can understand why many people might find this game/toy irritating, but the advantages, especially for children in developing their hand/eye/brain co-ordination far outweighs the nuisance of the quirky noises that are emitted from the toy, which, in anycase , can be turned down low as there are 3 volume settings.Extremely quick reactions are required to master Bop-it and the desire to better your high score always keeps you determined to improve. I also think it is advisable to limit yourself to a pre-determined play time & not to exceed it or you could end up playing it for hours and its addictive nature could become a problem. Nevertheless I still feel it is a must have toy/game purely for the reason stated initially, for aiding children to develop hand/eye/brain co-ordination. ...
