I have never been a fan of what I call the 'solitary shooter' and the thought of playing another game where I just run around a corridor shooting bad guys in a darkened room wasn't very appealing. Thankfully 'Borderlands' is nothing like.
The premise of the game is rather simple, you are tasked with finding a mythical vault which contains an assortment of weapons of extreme power. The story itself is probably the weakest part but thankfully there is enough good-humoured dialogue, outlandish characters and an almost infinite array of weapons to keep you occupied. Visually the game is beautiful with retro-styled cel shading and fast expansive landscapes.
Finally there is the cooperative element, I have never attempted to play on my own and am not inclined to start. In a sea of games that pitt you against your friends it is refreshing to have a truly cooperative experience. At a great price with lots of extra downloadable content there is no reason not to give it a go.
