I have two budgies and although they have each other for company I thought they needed a toy or two to amuse them too. I think mirrors are mainly recommended if your budgie is on it's own so it is good entertainment and company.
This mirror dangles from the top of the cage and it falls to just about the right height for my birds to be able to look into the mirror without having to put their heads at a funny angle. It is surrounded by a pale green plastic which makes it safe for the birds. It comes in a few other colours too. The mirror is round so that it shows the reflection of the bird well. It has a little bell hanging from the bottom of it which jingles away... alot! This can be a bit irritating but the birds seem to like it!
My birds spend a lot of time talking to their reflections in this mirror, they chirrup away and peck at the glass which makes the mirror swing and the bell jingle away. It definitely provides them with some fun, they do seem to enjoy it!
The mirror does need cleaning about once a fortnight as their beaks can make the glass a bit grubby but it's easy to clean wth just a bit of water on the glass and then dry it with a towel.
I have had this mirror for 6 months now and it is still in very good condition and is used regularly, I would say several times a day by both birds. They haven't grown bored of it at all. Sometimes whilst talking to their reflection they fluff themselves up as though they are very impressed by what they see!
It only cost me £3 and they have definitely go their money's worth out of this little toy!
