BOSCH 1200 CLASSIXX 5
When I moved four years ago I was moving to a much smaller home and left all my heavy kitchen equipment behind and started afresh. Due to shortage of kitchen space I wanted a washing machine that would fit into a shed outside, so appearance wasn’t my main concern. I wanted my machine NOW, I can’t be doing with having to wait weeks for company’s to deliver goods and we had a car at the time that the machine would fit into. So off we trotted to see just what we could find in the fair city of Lancaster. , After looking at various machines I opted for the Bosch 1200 Classixx 5, at Comet store in Lancaster. The strongest selling point of the machine was the price; it was on special offer at just £249.00 and had a free five-year parts warranty. Also it was from a well-known manufacturer - Bosch,
and the dimensions of the machine were perfect for the space I had. To top it all Comet had one in stock for us to take home there and then.
APPEARANCE
As I stated appearance wasn’t an issue as the machine was to be kept in a shed, but having said that it is not an unpleasant appliance to look at. It has no ‘rocket science’ look to it; it is a basic free standing and front-loading compact washing machine that comes in white, white or white!! It does though look well made and robust and the actual drum seems on the larger side than most machines. There are no digital or LCD displays, but the buttons are finger sensitive and easy to use. What this appliance looks like is ---a washing machine.

EFFICIENCY AND USE
After almost four years of continual use I have had no problems at all with the machine. I have a 13 year old son who plays rugby, cricket and football and who takes his kayak on the canal, hoisting himself in and out on to the muddy banks; for two years I had a teenage daughter who got changed every ten minutes and got through more towels then Audrey’s Hairdressing Salon and I have three grandkids who spend all their summer holidays here – so, as you can imagine, I do get through a LOT of washing I do the majority of my washing now on the 30 degree cycle and the washing comes out clean and fresh, hardly wrinkled and very dry.
Unlike many machines, the spin cycle is exceptionally quiet, not like my last machine that sounded like it was going to take off!! As it is such a simple machine it is also very easy to use Very straight forward, simply set the temperature and the type of wash you want e.g. Basic Wash, Mini Load Wash, Pre Wash, Reduced Ironing etc. and select the speed you want the spin from 600 to 1200. I generally use the highest spin setting and the clothes come out very dry. It is very east to keep clean and has needed no speciual maintenance over the years that I have owned it.
As of 27/9/09 the R.R.P. of this machine is £364.95 It is available with free delivery for £298.99 from Co Op Electrical http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk
CONCLUSION
For a good basic washing machine that won’t break the bank but will perform well and quietly I would heartily recommend this machine.
