...I bought this chainsaw when a 10 metre tree fell across my garden fence. I chose Bosch because I have other products mady by this company and they have appeared well designed and reliable. The 1800 watt motor was more powerful then I had expected and the instructions were extremely good covering the safe use of the chainsaw. I am pleased I bought this model with 40cm blade and not the shorter version at 35 cm.
The chainsaw has 2 excellent safety devices, the first requires two buttons to be operated to avoid accidental starting or use by a child. the second is an anti kick back device which applies a brake to the chain if the chainsaw is thrown upwards in the process of cutting a tree or branch. I also like the fact that you do not need spanners or tools to tighten the chain, it has a built in tensioning device which is easy to use...

Advantages: Large cutting capacity Disadvantages: Noise, Noise & More Noise
...Just bought as a replacement for a 12 year old Wolf mower whose motor died. Have a few Bosch products which are all satisfactory and had read a couple of positive reviews for this model.
What I like is the wide cutting width, 6cm bigger, and the large (50 lt) grass box - a bit less walking . Alo the switch, being across the full width of the handle makes it easy to control.
What I'm not sure about are the combs, bit gimicky probably, and the suction. My old mower vacuumed the grass, the blade was designed as a propellor, the Bosch removes the cut grass but not all the leaves, etc, that fall.
What I don't like is the noise (much, much louder), there's no indication when the grass box is full, and the quality of construction - the plastic feels flimsy, not sure it will last the 12 years of the old.
Would I buy it again, no....

Advantages: Lightweight, Cuts when wet, Bosch design Disadvantages: Full width on/off bar
...it usable by left or right hands, but I find it a little uncomfortable, and did get a blister after 90 minutes use.
I haven't found this machine for sale in shops, but there are plenty of internet companies selling it for around £140-£150, so it compares well with the smaller 40cm retail edition.
It is well worth paying the little bit extra for a larger blade as this will cut down mowing time in the long run.
And of course, the mower comes with the standard 2 year Bosch guarantee, which can't be bad.
I would recommend this mower to anyone wanting a cabled machine for a large garden. (And I believe Bosch also make a rechargable battery version of this.)
All in all, the best cabled mower on the market!!!...

Freezers are hardly an exciting topic of conversation are they? We don't spend long hot summers sat around the table discussing the ins and outs of the freezing power of our latest purchase. I'm no different but became a bit of an appliance bore when... more
