The fridge/freezer was purchased by me from Currys at a price of £219. It was an emergency ... ...down right before Christmas when it was full to the brim! I needed something quite spacious, yet still able to fit it up a flight of stairs into the flat above our shop, I also needed it to be in stock for me to take away then and there, all this in the week before Christmas!!

The fridge/freezer was purchased by me from Currys at a price of £219. It was an emergency purchase as is usually the case, my old one broke down right before Christmas when it was full to the brim! I needed something quite spacious, yet still able to fit it up a flight of stairs into the flat above our shop, I also needed it to be in stock for me to take away then and there, all this in the week before Christmas!!

The fridge/freezer as a whole is white, it has quite a short mains cable attached to the back, which was ok for me as it sits right by a power socket, it has across the top an on/off button, a quick freeze button, which was brilliant when I first set it up as it reached the correct temperature in only 5 hours, very handy! and finally the temperature dial which goes from 0-5.
It is easy to set up and along with the manual, was a quick set up guide, which pointed out the basics so you could set it freezing allowing you to read the other information at your leisure!
The doors open to your right, but it takes about 10 minutes to swap them around so they open the other way. This is also covered with diagrams in the instruction manual. The handles are long, white plastic tubular handles, which go along the bottom of on the fridge and along the top of the door on the freezer, and these so far have been my main problem, we have had the fridge door handle break twice on us so far, each time in an identical way, the handles crack right by where they fix to the door. Fortunately they broke just within the guarantee period, so we got them replaced for free.
*** Fridge (5.6cu.ft/160litre) *** Open the fridge door, and you are greeted by a nice bright white light, in the main body of the fridge there are 3 glass shelves, the first two being all one shelf in plain smooth glass.
The second shelf is two pieces which fasten together horizontally, and so be split if only one half is required. The third and bottom shelf is all in one piece but is a textured glass. Underneath the shelves are 2 large clear plastic drawers, I use one to store veg and the other to store raw meat, means it is kept totally separate and can be cleaned independently to the rest of the fridge.
The door has a few different sized compartments and these can be moved to whatever way suits you best, as they snap into several gaps along the door, also making them easy to remove and wash.
The main door pockets runs the width of the door and mine houses a 2litre carton of milk, a 2 litre bottle of lemonade, a 2 litre bottle of water and a carton of juice. There are 2 smaller independent shelves above which look like little balconies as they have a little metal rail round them, I use these to store relish, mustard salad dressing etc
Above those shelves right at the top of the door are 2 more shelves that have plastic flaps covering them, one contains a removable egg storer, the other I can fit 2 pats of butter in.
*** Freezer (3.7cu.ft/106litre Freezer) *** Open the door to the freezer compartment situated under the fridge and you will see 2 roomy clear plastic drawers, with their moulded handles, these drawers can be completely removed for easy cleaning.
At the very bottom is a slightly smaller drawer, also in a clear plastic. The size is the same as the others width way, but is about half the depth, as behind this drawer is where the freezers compressor is housed.
On the inside of the freezer door there is a chart depicting different food types and how long they can be frozen for. I like the idea of it being on the door as they are usually on the drawer itself, which after a few washes becomes almost invisible.
As for defrosting this is really easy, gives out little water so only requires a towel in the bottom and only takes an hour or so.
*** Summary *** On the whole I am very pleased with this freezer, and apart form the handle problem,(which I have since noticed have been completely redesigned on newer models)
I have had no real trouble. It is not too noisy, but you must ensure it is stood completely level, as we moved it to decorate the kitchen and it took us ages to get it level again, and it made lots of funny and loud noises, but once it was settled and level it reverted to it fairly quiet self!
It is geared up for easy cleaning, it is also impregnated with an anti bacterial layer and offers good value for money.
Phew - I think I've covered everything, and if you are still awake - thanks for reading!!
