I checked a few electrical websites and Currys were offering the best price at £398.95. So I went to Currys to see the machine in the flesh before I made my mind up.

So far I am very pleased with my new washing machine. If this changes I will update this opinion. Hopefully, I won’t have to.

Last month my Zanussi washing machine broke down. The warranty had run out so I had to get a new machine. I didn’t really know what I wanted, but having 2 kids, I knew I needed something reliable.
I checked my Which magazine and the report dated May 2001 recommended the Bosch Maxx WFL2450GB, the AEG OKO 72630 and the Samsung Sensor Quick Fuzzy SWFP1005. As the Bosch was rated the best for reliability I decided to make further enquiries about it.
I checked a few electrical websites and Currys were offering the best price at £398.95. So I went to Currys to see the machine in the flesh before I made my mind up.
I found the model I wanted straight away. It didn’t stand out particularly and the controls looked very basic. One for setting the programmes, one for setting the spin speed/rinse hold and four buttons. A Start button, a reduced Ironing button, a rinse plus button and a quick wash button.
What I did notice was the door, it is big and has a 180-degree opening angle and the drum was also bigger. It is all designed to make loading and unloading easier and the larger drum takes 20% more washing. The bigger door could be a problem if you are limited for space.
Specifications Height 852mm Width 600mm Depth 590mm Wash load 6kg/13lb Energy Rating A Energy Consumption 0.95kwh Wash Performance A Spin Performance B Spin Speed 600 to 1200 Number of programmes 15
Currys do not charge for delivery, but if you want it installed the cost is £20.00. The next available delivery slot was within 3 working days. The washing machine has 1 year’s manufacturer’s warranty. Curry’s coverplan to extend the warranty to 4 years is an additional £139.00 or £179.00 to extend to 5 years. I thought this too expensive so I didn’t take it out.
On the day of delivery the driver was delayed, but eventually delivered the washing machine 7.30pm. The instructions were easy to follow. After removing all the packaging and the transport bolts we installed the washing machine, ensuring that it was level. All the connection pipes and waste pipes were clearly marked and easily connected. Both the hot and cold water supply must be turned on, as this machine cannot operate by a cold fill only.
Before you use the machine for the first time you have to run the machine on a hot cycle with no washing in it, using a small amount of detergent. This is to remove any water left from the testing procedures at the factory. The hot wash is a long programme, but it is a good way of checking that all the pipes are connected properly and that the machine is working properly before you put any clothes in it. I did notice that the programme selecter switch wasn’t moving during the programme, but the instruction book confirmed that this is because the programme sequence is electronically controlled.
My verdict, after using the machine a few times, is that it is very quiet and easy to use. Having a bigger door and drum, loading the clothes was no problem. You select the temperature and the type of laundry all by one turn of a switch. You can choose the spin speed, again from one turn of a switch. The detergent dispenser is quite big and has ample space for loose powder or tablets, as well as a compartment for fabric conditioner and extra detergent for the pre-wash cycle.
The 40 degrees wash programme, for easy care fabrics, takes about 75 minutes. Using the 1000 spin speed the machine was very quiet and it spun the clothes well. They didn’t seem too creased either, even without the reduced ironing button. All the clothes were clean and smelt fresh. After they had dried they seemed to iron a bit easier than usual.
The Bosch instruction booklet covers everything from unpacking the washing machine to packing it up again if you have to transport it. Everything is explained in simple, easy to follow terms and all the buttons and programmes are explained fully.
So far I am very pleased with my new washing machine. If this changes I will update this opinion. Hopefully, I won’t have to.
Advantages: reliability and ease of use Disadvantages: none - maybe it should iron the clothes too!
...them he said. So Bosch were looking like favourites.
Another ‘want’ was that the clothes must be spun dry (or dry enough for them to be tumble dried at a minimum), so a high spin speed was required. The only ‘want’ Mr F had was that I didn’t bleed him dry when it came to the price!!
After hours of umming and arrrring at Curry’s (and a few no I DON’T need any help THANK YOU), we decided on the Bosch Maxx. It’s sleek white lines and easy to use dials ... ...Installation.
Installing the Bosch Maxx couldn’t be more simpler. There are two hoses - one for hot and one for cold water, but if you only have a cold water supply for your machine there is a handy connector which joins the hoses together to fit to the one water supply. If you only fill your machine with cold water the efficiency rating dips slightly as the machine needs to use power to heat the water. Once you have connected the hose, you can ...

...and taken delivery of a bosch maxx 1100 spin washing machine.
The machine cost me £420 from a local supplier,it is available for only £343 was the cheapest price i found via www.pricerunner.com.I decided to purchase it from a local shop due to their excellent customer service free delivery and they take away the old machine too.
The bosch maxx so called i believe due to the fact that it takes a 6kg load rather than the industry average of 5kg.
... ...being the most wasteful.Well the bosch maxx scores A on both energy efficiency and uses very little water per load.
The wash programmes are very simple to understand and the buttons and switches are well made and not prone to falling off in your hand like on my previous hoover machine.
The machine washes very well and is also very quiet in fact i used to keep going into my garage were it is kept to check it was still working and it doesnt sound ...

Advantages: frugal, Big Load, silent. Disadvantages: Cost of Purchase
...parents have recently bought a Bosch Max and as our old hotpoint is on its last legs I took the opportunity last weekend to have a good look at it. For a start it is German engineering which means that it looks well made and probably is. However the main selling point is the size of the drum which is some 20% bigger than normal.
Not only does this mean that you can put more in, but it also means that the machine is quite frugal with electricity. ...

Advantages: capacity, wash quality Disadvantages: Time on some cycles
...Unique Selling Point of the Bosch Maxx models is their 6 kilo capacity. Most machines can take only about 5 kilos. The difference is stunning - instead of doing say 3 washes you can get away with 2.
The program settings are also very versatile - it seems to have an option for every eventuality.
It is also a very quiet machine, even in its extremely vigorous 1200 rpm spin cycle.
We have only had it for a few months, but according to all the published ... ...manufacturers, so hopefully we won't have ant reliability problems either.
The clothes all seem to come out pretty clean, particularly from the "intensive stain" cycle - the drawback of this is that it takes an eternity.
Anyone considering buying one should be aware that a machine called the Titan is about to be launched, which boasts a 7 kilo capacity. ...

...local shop deals only in Bosch or AEG. Why, we asked, they answered that all the other machines are now marketted for the Comet or Currys market and these companies aer more interested in the warranty side of their marketting.
So we paid a little extra and bought the Bosch from a local electrician.

Advantages: Good Program Choice Disadvantages: Not The greatest wash performance
spent in exess of £200 worth of repairs on it, so it would just be more cost economical.
so in general i wasnt to pleased, i'd say Bosch should allow their machines to use a bit more water, as washing full 6kg loads was a nightmare for it, was pointless doing it.
Thanx For Reading ...
Advantages: Takes a really big load of washing. Disadvantages: You can't set the spin speed independently.
With a family of five, including three teenage daughters who seem to consider that merely trying on a possible item of clothing meant that it needed to be washed, I needed a reliable washing machine that could cope with everything from tough, king size duvet covers to delicate lacy items. My partner is really keen on doing his bit to save the planet so I was "encouraged" to consider those machines which had an "A" rating and had a reputation for lasting. The Bosch came out well in lots of reports and although not in the lower price bracket there were several offers around on it.
I wanted a machine that could do the basics well, I don't tend to use loads of different programmes and I wanted to be able to just rinse too. Anyone with a sporting or garden keen family knows this is a requirement at times.
The Bosch is easy to operate ...
