Bosch Table Top Dishwasher

...was delighted to find the Bosch SKT5102 compact dishwasher advertised on the Comet website.

Before buying, I did read as much as I possibly could on the product before going to Comet to actually see the model.

The size is 45cm x 55 cm x 46cm and it seemed very 'roomy' inside. It takes 4 place settings so is ideal for 1-2 people but not for a family.

The noise level is 53dB and uses 12 litres of water per ...
...is as it was.

To sum up, it is quiet, economical and does the job well, while you can get on with doing whatever else you want to do without worrying about the washing -up!

Having always wanted a dishwasher, but never having the room to put it in my small kitchen, I was delighted to find the Bosch SKT5102 compact dishwasher advertised on the Comet website.

Before buying, I did read as much as I possibly could on the product before going to Comet to actually see the model.

The size is 45cm x 55 cm x 46cm and it seemed very 'roomy' inside. It takes 4 place settings so is ideal for 1-2 people but not for a family.

The noise level is 53dB and uses 12 litres of water per load. Having done my homework, I decided to go ahead and purchase the model. I paid £299.99 plus a small delivery charge (or you can collect if you're strong enough to carry it!). My dishwasher was delivered 2 days later. Please note that Comet do not install dishwashers unless there is an extra cold tap on the bit where your washing machine tap goes (sorry, I'm not very technical that way!).

Anyway, the instructions did say that you can connect to a warm tap and we had a spare one of those! We placed it on the draining board but still had to drill a hole down the back of the unit to fit the filler pipe. We were happy just to lay the waste pipe across and down the sink. You can get this plumbed in if you wish but we decided we didn't need to.

One drawback with this model is that you cannot use dishwasher tablets as the part for holding the detergent is too small (Bosch do say this in the instructions, but by then you will probably have bought the dishwasher!). You can use either powder or liquid detergent. In case you didn't know, you also need dishwasher salt and rinse aid.

It is very easy to put in the detergent, rinse aid and salt and thereafter you only need to top up the salt and rinse aid as required. You can see at a glance when you need to replace either of these.

The other drawback that might put you off buying this particular dishwasher is the fact that most saucepans, roasting dishes etc do not fit into the cavity and therefore you might still have a little washing up to do by hand.

There are three programmes - one a deep clean, one for medium soil and a gentle clean for anything hardly soiled. I tried the medium soil programme first but found it didn't clean one hundred percent. Thereafter, the deep clean programme was used and I have had no problem.

The machine is very economical and uses little water. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it is as I expected it to be quite noisy. It does make you jump when the cycle is coming to an end as it sounds as though it's starting the cycle again but it's just to let you know the cycle is at an end.

I did take a chance and washed my bone china gold leaf dinner service in it although I was told it wasn't suitable. I didn't really want to buy another dinner service so I phoned Comet and they did tell me it wouldn't damage the dishwasher but the gold leaf could come off. After 4 weeks, there is no problem - the dinner service is as it was.

To sum up, it is quiet, economical and does the job well, while you can get on with doing whatever else you want to do without worrying about the washing -up!

I fully recommend the Bosch SKT5102 dishwasher.
