This is one of the best surround sound system I have heard. It runs off the 5.1 Digital Surround Sound system and DTS – Digital Theatre Sound. The same as in the cinema.
The digital surround sound is crystal clear, with a fantastic ‘warm’ base that is not overpowering or ‘thumping’, even though the system has a power output of 280 watts.
I bought the system and installed it with very little fuss. When I turned it on, the system asked for the set-up disk. Loaded this and was instructed to place the headphone receiver on my head and sit in 5 locations in the viewing area of the TV. The system then emitted test noises at various pitches and resonances – scared the cat! Once this process was completed the system was automatically calibrated and balance. Fantastic, no need to change the volume of the speakers, fade etc.
I then played the last song on the Eagles album ‘Hell Freezes Over’. This song was written and performed for this 5.1 DTS system. Each voice can be heard uniquely in each of the 5 speakers. There is no bleeding (i.e. background noise, or noise from another speaker channel). Superb!!
Also you have the option of adding ‘zones’ onto the system, so you could have speakers outside, controlled by the one remote, and the signal is relayed back to the Lifestyle system.
You do have the option of several types of Bose speakers that are compatible with the Lifestyle 35. Having listened to several, I found that the Jewel, although more expensive had a far superior clarity and definition than the others. The tiny ‘Jewel Cube’ are a split pair speaker (2 rear and 3 front) so from one position you can have two directional sound emissions.
As I stated earlier the Acoustimass bass unit has a great balance of sound. It is ‘warm’ and ‘soft’. Even at the higher volumes, it does not overpower you in the room.
I have played Classical music in this, and found the clarity and depth of sound to be so good, as to almost be there in person.
I have also had music CD’s playing at a good volume, and it really does feel as though I am in a Night Club or music Bar – fantastic.
Watching movies is fantastic. You really do feel as though you are in the cinema.
There is nothing bad I can say out the system.

You have done a good job on this review, I must say as well, I have the Bose Lifestyle 28 5.1 and they are amazing, fabulous sound for music and television. The remote control is very big I know, and white, but it is very easy and effective. Great review well done - Chazzer3
